Re: Albert Johnson of New York

From the information I have been able to gather from the sketchy death certificate of Albert, his parents were listed as Joseph and Sarah ( unable to accurately get the spelling of last name. I am descendant of the son Albert born 1889, not 1888. there were also 2 more sons, joseph and louis, last being born 1905. Amelia remarried a Bailey and is buried in the Johnson plot in East Hillside Cemetery in Glen head as Amelia Bailey. She did not die in Glen Cove but was brought back to Glen Cove for burial. She was living with son Joseph in another part of NEW YORK in 1929. Would love information concerning Edward. Perhaps compare notes on rest of the brothers. ALso found out by elimination that the missing child of Albert and Amelia referred to in the 1900 census was unknown due to baby dying at or just after birth in 1887. The caretaker of the cemetery found an entry that showed Albert purchasing a plot july 1 1887 and it was used july 3.. suggesting it was needed unexpectedly and it falls into patterns of a first born approx 2 yrs after marriage. took me yrs to find that out.

New location for Upstate New York Johnson genealogy site

After years of living off the generosity of Rootsweb, I have moved my extensive database of upstate New York / Vermont Johnsons to a new location:

http://www.mynonurbanlife.com/familyhistory/genealogy.html

With this move comes an update, with new and corrected details on hundreds of individuals. Thanks to everybody who has helped me with this project.

Other major surnames include: Peck, Goodrich, Cath, Smith, Johnson, Corey, Dukett, Duquette, Lamoy

William Pickens / Elizebeth Johnson

Trying to locate information on my grandmother. I am a great granddaughter of William Pickens. All I know is that my grandmother was born in Ada, Oklahoma from William Pickens and Elizebeth Johnson. (affair supposedly) According to the story my great grandfather left town. I was also told he had a brother, and I was given my great grand fathers tribal roll number. My great grandfather worked for the railroad, and my great grandmother on my fathers' side got awarded the five kids from Opal Pickens and Roy McGalliard's divorce. My great grandmother would take my father to the railroad tracks in Ada to waive at his grand father when he came through town. I look forward to any information you have. I can provide photos of my father, which I have been told looks just like my great grand father.

Re: Looking for cherokee Johnson;s from Ky.

My GrGrGrandfather was George Johnson born 1825 lived in or near Jefferson Co. I was told as a child that we were part Cherokee but I'm not sure which line. In 1939 when my Great Aunt died she had a dying ceremony before her death. So the connection to our Cherokee roots was still strong just two generations ago. I'm interested in knowing more about the possibility that the Johnson line is my Cherokee connection and also about the history of the Native people in Ky during the 18 & 19 hundreds. Any information you have would be welcome. Any suggestions for further research is welcome also. TIA Jeane

JOB JOHNSON BORN ABOUT 1808, V>Guernsey Co. Ohio

I am seeking names and vital dates about the parents of JOB JOHNSON, likely born in Virginia about 1808. He married AGNES HAYES, about 1833 and both died in Guernsey Co. Ohio. One of Job's sons married a woman named MARY LOUISE KENNON, and her daughter married a man named WILLIS S. MEAD or MEADE. I would be interested in JOB JOHNSON'S sibling' names, dates and their birth dates. I would be willing to share the information on the names of Job and Agnes' children with others interested in these lines.

Sorry for coming late into this thread, but I am direct line of the William Johnsons from Bathley. William/Phoebe nee Herrod had in the family Frederick (aka Frank) Mary, Ellen, James, Thomas and William as in your message. William became a railway engine fireman with NE Railways and travelled to Yorkshire. In 1911 was lodger with Danby family at Muston, East Yorkshire (just outside Filey). Married/cohabited with Maude Danby (eldest daughter)who had Wilfred Danby Johnson (my father) who then later in 1920's moved to Hull where William then lived (by then an engine driver with NE/LNER). John Herrod lived for some period with his daughter in Bathley at the Crown inn
Phil

Hi, Kim. We must somehow be related. Henry A. Johnson was my grandfather. Nell, or Nellie, Jones, first married him, and the result was my mother, Anne Missouri Johnson. Henry died, and Nell married Homer Johnson. They had three children, Jean, Alexander, and John Homer Johnson. Of the four kids, only John is alive. He lives with his wife in Hazlehurst, GA, and my wife and I visted them a year ago this past September.

John still owns Homer Johnson's farm, and his own, in Long Pond. At one point, Homer moved his family to Mount Vernon, GA, and they lived there until both Homer and Nell died. She pre-deceased him.

My mother, Anne Missouri Johnson, married Arthur Schloss, who was a soldier. They remained married until my father, Arthur, passed away in April, 1974. My mother, Anne, passed away on August 6, 2006.'

It is interesting to consider that you and I apparently have the same grandparents.

For what it's worth, I lived on the farm in Long Pond as a very young boy, and in the house on Mt. Vernon also. I was born in Vidalia, GA.

I'm looking for any descendents of William Johnson, who settled in Allen County Indiana around 1840, no matter what the relationship or how distant it is. I do know that in 1850 he married for the third time, a Mary Ball, and had two children, Richard and Frank, sometime in the 1850's. Children by previous marriages were Edward and Sarah in the 1830's, and Amanda, Julia Ann, James, and Jacob in the 1840's. If you have any ideas or connections, please email me. Thanks.
