Johnson family. I don't have any of those names in my research. There are so many Johnsons since in Norway (and other Scandinavian countries) any man named John who had a son that son became John's son and then a farm or region name was the surname. Hence, if a son was named Peter he would be Peter
Johnson and his surname would be the "farm"name. The Johnsons I am researching lived in
Shawano, Brown and Wood counties in
Wisconsin. They originally came from Norway. Many dropped the farm name when they came to this country and all family members took the name
Johnson as the surname. That is why there are so many Johnsons. I hope you can locate your Johnsons.
