My father Elmer Emanuel was born to Adolph and Johanna Matildia Johnson in Wis, but I don't know where. There were also his brother Paul and Lily, but don't know if they were born in Wis. or not. My father left us when I was 6 weeks old in Jan. 1938. Can't think of any other info except that lived in Ore. latter and then Spokane. Hope that if these are the ones you are looking for because I haven't been able to find much more myself.

Sally, Sorry, but this would not be the same Johnson family. I don't have any of those names in my research. There are so many Johnsons since in Norway (and other Scandinavian countries) any man named John who had a son that son became John's son and then a farm or region name was the surname. Hence, if a son was named Peter he would be Peter Johnson and his surname would be the "farm"name. The Johnsons I am researching lived in Shawano, Brown and Wood counties in Wisconsin. They originally came from Norway. Many dropped the farm name when they came to this country and all family members took the name Johnson as the surname. That is why there are so many Johnsons. I hope you can locate your Johnsons.

Carol,

Is there an ernest or elmer or ernie Johnson that married a tyler? specifically a bertha tyler, sometime between 1881 and 1900?

Sorry, I don't have any of those names in my family. There are a lot of Johnsons -- mine come from Norway originally.

Hi Carol
Just came across your email; not sure if you are still answering this query but just in case, I am also researching a specific branch of the Petersons in Shawano county as well as the other surnames listed. I have a lot of research on my ggrandmother Anne Katrine Olesdr and her siblings (Olsen) of Telemark (mostly Bamble) going back to the 1500's and am still working on it; Petersen/son side is from Hordaland and goes back (so far) to the early 1700's. If this sounds familiar, or you want to know more info, let me know. Best regards

Yes, I am interested. My grandfather, Edwin Johnson, son of Louis (or Lewis) Johnson was born in Marshfield 21 May 1886. I believe my ggrandfather was a lumberman. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Carol

Sorry, no match. I have an Eddie Johnson born in Marsfield 1896, his fathers name was John. Family name in Norway before emigration was Kongsgaarden.

That still may be in the same family as Louis Johnson's father's name was John Johnsen Kongsgaarden and he changed it to Johnson when they came here from Kongsberg, Norway. Several of the Kongsgaarden family went to MN and some kept the farm name, which was Kongsgaarden. There is a distant relative in MN who has the whole line. Perhaps I can have her contact you.
