Harmon Albers Janssen, b. abt 1850, lived Livingston Co., IL

Harmon Albers Janssen, b. abt 1850, lived Livingston Co., IL
I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Harm Albers Jansen – father of W. J. Jansen”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Pontiac (Livingston Co.) IL in about 1890, and he looks to be approximately 40-45.

I found a Harm Rudolph Janssen, both in the 1910-1930 census records for Livingston Co, IL, and in the WWI Draft Registration, showing his DOB as 23 Feb 1878, His wife is listed as “Gesche”. Has to be a relationship between the Harm Albers in the photo, and the Harm Rudolph in the WWI registration, as they were in same county. 1880 census for Clayton (Woodford Co.) IL shows Harmon Janssen, age 38, with wife Annie, age 30. Children were Henry, 5; Kate, 3; and Mary, 9 mo.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Harm Janssen or Jansen.

Hello, I am yet another Janssen, Johnson name that has ties in the Nokomis, Mt. Olive Illinois areas.

My grandfather was George Johnson from the Nokomis, Ohlman, Illinois area, married Anna Brockman from Nokomis;
his older brother was John Johnson from the Nokomis, Ohlman, Oconee area; these two brothers came over with their father Garrett from Germany in 1862; John mother's name from his Obit is Mary and died in Germany many years before his death, 1914.
their brother Harmon Johnson, from his obit grew up in the Mt. Olive area and married a Mary Hackman(n) and moved to Kansas where they both died in the 1930's. I am at my brick wall on actually finding records for the family in the Mt. Olive area. I believe from Harm's Obit which states he grew up to manhood in Mt. Olive that the family was in the Mt. Olive area first then moved towards the Nokomis area. The Farmer's Directory indicates they came to the Nokomis area around 1878; if you should come across any information on this "Janssen, Johnson" surname I would appreciate it. Mary ps no Jeannie and I are not related; but have met each other.

Henry was my great grandfather "Alberts son". He moved to macoupin county Il after marrying Theresa "Katie" johanna Heiken. They had three daughters taht survived. My grandmother Helen, Anna, and Mildred. Also two sons that died in infancy. After Henry died Theresa "Katie" married George JOhnson one of Henry's brothers. I have a few pictures here and my dad has albums of them. The Janssen/ Johnsons were camera crazy. The story on albert I have is the same only not as a stow away. He shoveled coal was the story my grandma gave. He made the trip twice I am told. Ostefriesland is where the Ludemanns are from but census records show Albert H. As being from Hannover which is in the same northwest part of Germany. At that time the king of Hanover was also king of Great Britain through inheratance. I wish I could say I had a father and mother for him but he is the dead end.

Grandfather Jann H. Janssen born in Ostfriesland March 13, 1904 emmigrated to the United States

I am looking for relatives in Ostfriesland that are related to my Grandfather, Jann Hikos Janssen, who lived in Suffolk, New York at the time of his death, with his beloved wife, Julianna Janssen. They had been to his homeland several times, however I have little information about them. My father John Peter Janssen was named for my grandfather's brother Peter, who died of pneumonia or influenza at the same time as his parents. My Uncle Charles Abalius Janssen was named I believe (Middle Name) for my Grandfather's Father.

My Grandfather had sisters, that I believe were a bit older than he was. We have a photo of the family farm house. My grandfather never spoke much of his life in Germany. If you have any info, please contact me.

My brother John Christopher Janssen has inherited the stein that was sent here, by relatives from Ostfriesland, that belonged to our Great, Great Grandfather depicting his military (Calvary) and other conquests. It was made for him and presented to him by his men. It was sent here, to my father as he was the male heir. My Grandfather Jann H. Janssen was the only surviving son in his family.

My brother would like to visit our cousins there in Ostfriesland and I am obtaining as much info as I can for him.

I am searching for information on Siebrand JANSSEN of Eldena late 1880'S. Married to Diederecka HENDRICKSON. Their children were Sophia, Anna, Henry, and Lena. Lena married John LUND, who practiced medicine in Dixon for many years. Anna married an Albright and farmed in Eldena and Sophia married a Graham and lived in Michigan. I am a decendent of Sophia (Janssen) Graham. I have data from their 1880 census wherein they indicate both were from Hanover (lower sauxony germany). I have reason to believe that Diederecka's mother may have been Catherine or perhaps german equivalent. I have been unable to contact another poster with shared heritage, Adele Malerich.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello,

My name is Siebrand Janssen and I live in the Netherlands. I,m 24 and I study state- and authority law. Today I was surfing around on the internet when I typed my name in the search bar of google. I could not believe that there once lived a person with the same name as me. However Siebrand is a dutch name, you don't hear it very often here. Originally Sie-Brand is an old German name which means something like "flaming victory sword" (yeah). Well, I,ve bothered you long enough. Good luck with your quest!

Greets,
Siebrand Janssen
