In my family tree I have a Johann Bernhard Groothuis, born 10-02-1844 in Germany. Married 1875, died 2-5-1896 in Aplington, Butler Co. IA. His wife, Elizabeth Janssen, born 11-28-1841 in Nendorp, Germany, died 11-10-1917 in New Leipzing, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Hermanus Berends Janssen, born 1802 in Nendorp, died 7-28-1885 in Larrelt, Germany. Her mother was Gessche Lodewyrs, 2nd wife of Hermanus married in 1837, born born 1811 Nendorp, Germany, d 6-18-1860, Nendorp, Germany) It's so hard to tell if the same branch but worth an e-mail to find out.
