I am looking for a "Helen Ann Hinds" or Hynds, born 1924 June 23 at 4 PM Balblair Road, Parish of Aldearn, County of Nairn, Scotland. Her mother was Isabella Hynds and there was no father registered. She was given to her grandmother to be raised shortly after her birth. Her gram's name was Elizabeth McBain. They supposedly went to Australia. There is no telling where she is or was or if she married and what her name was. Thanks, Barbara in the US. Looking for this relative. Many thanks.

Thanks, Barbara in the US. Australia is a big place with registration of births deaths and marriages being registered by six states and various territories. To start a search of public records one needs to know where in Australia these people migrated to. I noticed the following death entries at the NSW Births Death and Marriages site at
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

Registration Number Last Name Given Name(s) Father's Given Name(s) Mother's Given Name(s) District
21122/1940 MCBAIN ELIZABETH CHAMBERLAIN (AYNSLEY) SYDNEY
21509/1942 MCBAIN ANNIE ELIZABETH ROBERT JAMES BRIDGET PETERSHAM

Hi Glenda, My research of my ancestor John Hinds has hit a brick wall. He married Mary Walpole in Sydney in 1843 but I have no idea where he came from. He described himself as a mariner. He does not appear to have been a convict. He died in 1855 and his death entry tells us nothing.
