Somewhere along the way the spelling of the family name got changed--supposedly from "Ten Eyck" to "Heck". I have been unable to locate records showing when, how or why this took place. The connection is made through Andreas (Andrew) Ten Eyck/Eick around the Revolutionary War. If anyone out there has any information they would be willing to share I would be eternally grateful.
