Heck Family

Mike Potter  (View posts) Posted: 21 Aug 1999 7:03PM GMT
I am looking for information on Angela Heck. She married Matthias Blau before 1869. I have come up with an Angela Heck that came with her family to America around 1843 but have not been able to connect the two. She came from Britten, Merzig, Rheinland, Prussia and was born in 1839. Her parents names were Johann Peter Heck and Margaretha Leinenweber. Does anyone have any information connecting these two?

Mike...what location in the US are the Hecks? Mine are in Hamilton Co.,Ohio. Have Elizabeth Heck who married William H. Ihle ca 1880. I have been unable to locate Elizabeth's parents but she was born in Ohio probably around 1852.

Our best guess is that our Heck line settled briefly in Kentucky where we think Elizabeth was born in 1869. We also believe that the family then move to Kenosha WI. We have no real proof of this other than one of Lizzie's daughters remembers Lizzie's sisters. The information on the Heck line we are researching came from LDS under Angela Heck. There are numerous offshoots of the family that are not well documented.

I have Angela Heck, daughter of Margaretha Leinenweber
and Johann Peter Heck, in the research of my
husband's family. I have no further information on
Angela though. The Leinenweber family lived in the
Britten, Germany area. We live in Germany and
plan to visit the area the family is from. I have more
information on the Leinenwebers if you want it. If I come upon
more information I will contact you.

Looks like we are a match! I do show Margaretha Leinenweber and her father Mathias. Beyond that I have no other information on the family. Anything you have would be great! I believe that Angela left Germany in 1843 with her parents and two siblings. Two other siblings died in that same year. Do you have any idea what may have been the cause of death such as an epidemic? Do you have any information as to where they were going in the US? I suspect that they ended up in Campbell county Kentucky where my wife Peggy's great grandmother Lizzie Blau was born. Angela Heck is listed as her mother. Her father was listed as Mathias Blau. We believe that your Angela and ours are the same person but as of yet have not documented it. If you would like the information we have about the family, we would be glad to share it. Please feel free to e-mail direct if you would like.

I found some information at familysearch.com.
Most of what I have came from a relative. My
husband's family settled in China, IN and I have
a page from a cemetary there that has a Peter
Heck buried there. He was one of Angela's brothers.
Send me you e-mail address and I will contact you
directly.
