My grandfather Jesse B Connor married Grace Hartsock. Jesse was born in 1902 in Franklin County, but was living in Duquoin when he died in 1986. I am looking for information on Grace Hartsock. I believe her mother might be Georgia and her father Guy Hartsock. I found them on the 1910 census in Duquoin. Do you know any of these people. Thanks jenna pendleton

Hartsock / Hartsook Washington Co., Virginia & Sullivan Co., Tennessee

I have posted this in the past, but it has been more than 3 years ago. Hopefully someone may have new information I am seeking now.

The Hartsock Family line starts with William Spurrier Hartsock. Born most likely Virginia, between 1790 and 1820. The only records uncovered at this time are the marriage record for son Isaac. Which states his parents were William Spurrier Hartsock and Barbara Hartsock. Census records for Isaac Hartsock, which show his parents were born in Virginia, and death certificate for Isaac, also showing parents born in Virginia. There is some speculation that William Spurrier Hartsock, descends from one of the three original Hartsock brothers, who came to Washington Co., Virginia. However, we do know that both Isaac and brother William H Hartsock were born in Virginia.
Note:
Washington County Virginia Marriages 1853 - 1880
Groom: Isaac Wesley Hartsock, 22; single; b. Sullivan Co. TN; res. Washington Co., Virginia; Miller, son of William Spurrier and Barbara Hartsock.
Bride: Susan Delina Neely, 21; single; b. & res. Washington Co., Virginia, daughter of Robert and Julia Neely.
Minister: John H. Wallace

The 1850 Census shows " Wesley Hartsock", age 16, a Farmer, Catherine Hanby, age 70, and Matilda Gross, age 30, all living in District 67, Washington Co., Virginia.

In the 1860 census living with Isaac Wesley Hartsock was William H Hartsock, age 8, b. in Virginia. I believe he was living with Julia Neely in the 1870 census. I believe William H Hartsock is a brother.

Census reports reflect that both of Isaac's parents were born in Virginia.

Kentucky Death Certificate states Isaac's name as Isaac Wesley Hartsook, born May 6, 1835, in Washington Co., Virginia. Father's name, William Hartsook, born in Virginia, Mother's name, unknown, born in Virginia. This is consistant with the census records, which also states parents were born in Virginia. At the time of his death, he was living at 742 S. 16th Street, Louisville, 11th Ward, Jeferson Co., Kentucky. However, Marriages records show he was born in Sullivan Co., Tennessee. Prior to 1800, Sullivan Co. was part of Washington Co., Virginia, some time before 1840, Tennessee aquired a portion of Washington Co., and formed Sullivan Co., Tennessee.
Hi My great grandmother is Sarah Russell. Do you have any information on her. I know she was born in Kentucky and married Samuel Milton Osburn. They lived in Taney County, Hollister, MO. This is where Samuel died and is buried. Their son William Burditt Osburn is my grandfather. Sarah moved to Oklahoma where she died in 1933 and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery just across the state line in Kansas. I believe this is the same Sarah Russell in your family tree. Someone sent me a picture of Mary Hartsock and Samuel Russell don't know if this is the same picture you have or not. Would you send me a copy of yours. And if you have any info on Sarah you would share with me. Do you know if she was Indian? Thank you for any help you might give me. I would appreciate it very much. You may contact me at nanas_1littleprincess@yahoo.com

I have Hartsock research, not much on the Russell family, Samuel was married previously and was quite a bit older than Mary.

We would love to have a picture of Mary and Samuel; try me at
rolene@mlode.com

I have never had contact with my father (Donald Wayne) and while I am trying I am not having much success. All I know about that side is my father's name, grandfather's name (Gene Autry), my deceased brother's name (Richard Allen, was only a few years old when he died), and I may have a cousen or aunt named Bertha? Right now my father and grandfather are in jail and I know that side has had a lot of problems with drugs (you can look them up in the court log). But I wish I can find someone who may know something!!

THANKS!

Do you have any idea where your Elizabeth Hartsock was born? I have a Mary E (most likely Elizabeth) Hartsock/Hartsook born 1860 Overton Co., Tennessee. daughter of Isaac Wesley Hartsock/Hartsook and Susan Delina Neely. They also had a William Robert Hartsock/Hartsook and a Sarah L Hartsock/Hartsook and a Julia Frances Hartsock/Hartsook. This family moved to Kentucky by 1870 and remained there for the most part. I have not been able to locate this Mary Elizabeth Hartsock/Hartsook. The last documentation on her is living with her parents in 1880, Hart Co., Kentucky. Her parents were in Louisville by 1886. Any help you may be able to give just might fill in a gap.

Barbara

This photo was among my Grandmother Mary (Massaro)Rapue's photos and also among my Dad's Cousin Frances (Massaro) Carrado's photos. Frank has his arm around Lottie and they are sitting on the running board of a car. The picture was taken probably in the 30s. Frank and Lottie are probably in their late 50s early 60s. It was probably taken in Colorado, but they could have been from Pennsylvania. My Aunts do not know how they are related.

I hope someone may get this message. I too am looking for a Hartsock family from Sullivan Co., Tennessee and then Washington Co., Virginia; William Spurrier Hartsock and Barbara dates unknown.

Their son Isaac Wesley Hartsock, b. 1835 Sullivan Co., Tennessee, according to marriages records, married Susan Dalina Neely, July 8, 1857 in Washington Co., Virginia.

The 1860 census shows Isaac and Susan in Overton Co., Tennessee, with children William R, age 2 b. VA, Mary, age 2 months b. Tennessee, and William H., age 8 b. VA. William H does not show in the 1870 census. I do not think that William H is Isaac's son, but his brother.

I know where Isaac ended up, but his parents and sibblings, I have no idea. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hartsock family of Washington Co., Virginia

I am looking for information on the following:

Isaac Wesley Hartsock, possibly Hartsook
born May 6, 1835 Washington Co. Virginia

Father's name: William Hartsook or Hartsock born in Virginia

Mother's Name: unknown born in Virginia
This information was given by Isaac's daughter, for his death certificate.
.................................................................
From 1880 forward the census spell the name "Hartsook", including the Death Certificate for both Isaac Wesley Hartsook and son William Robert Hartsook.

The 1880 Hart Co., Kentucky Census shows Isaac W "Hartsook" and William R "Hartsook".

The 1870 Adair Co., Kentucky Census shows Isaac W Hartsock, wife Susan, children William R, 12, Mary E, 10, Sarah L, 5, male babe, 2 (child's name John).

The 1860 Overton Co.,Tennessee Census shows Wesly Hartsock, age 25, a Carpenter, wife Susan, age 23, children William 2, Mary, 2 months, and a William H, age 8.

The 1850 Washington Co., Virginia Census shows Wesley Hartsock, age 16, Farming, with Catherine Hanby, age 70, born in Virginia. Catherine's maiden name is Fulkerson, she married John Hanby.

The 1840 Washington Co., Virginia Census shows Catherine Hanby as head of house hold, with 1 male under 5, 1 male 15 to 20, 1 male 30 to 40, 1 female 5 to 10, 2 females 30 to 40, 1 female 60 to 70.

I am thinking Catherine may be Wesley's grandmother, as the 1840 census does show 1 male under 5.

Does any of this information ring a bell with any one? Any information would be of great help and appreciation, for as usual, I have hit another brick wall.

Thank you,
Barbara

Hartsock families of Washington Co Virginia & Sullivan Co Tennessee

I need help, possibly any and all may be able to help.

I am searching for Hartsock families from the 1840's & 1850's that would have lived in Washington Co., Virginia & Sullivan Co., Tennessee. Someone said there was only one Hartsock family from those two counties, all related. If so, somewhere in there William Spurrier Hartsock is connected. He was born before 1815 in possibly Virginia. All the information I have on him was mentioned in the Washington Co marriage records, when his son Isaac Wesley Hartsock married, in 1857, which stated Isaac's parents were William Spurrier Hartsock & Barbara Hartsock. The same document states Isaac was born in Sullivan Co.,Tennessee, however, Isaac's death certificate states he was born in Washington Co., Virginia.

Any help anyone can give me on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Ms. Theissen:

I reviewed your posting in response to my father's (Bill Hartsoch's) posting regarding obtaining a copy of a book on the Hartsoch family. My father passed away in 2001. I do have a copy of a book of his but it is on the name Hartsock (K). If you are interested, I will see what I can find out for you.

Great to hear from you. I have a Priscilla Case b.abt. 1780m. to James Rush b.abt 1784. Priscilla's parents were Samuel Case ? and Mary Heaton? I have no dates on these two. I also have Mary Heaton's father was Jebesh Heaton? d.abt 1798 and have him married to a Mary? Again not much info. I realize that Elizabeth Hartsock m. Jacob Cox and that Henry Hartsock and Elizabeth Williams? were here parents? Any info you can give me on these families would be a great help. I'll let you have what I have when we confirm we are talking the same ppl. Thank you, awaiting your reply.
I will have to get back to you on the Heatons I guess. I am working off info of my aunt and great aunt. My Christopher Cox was married to Nancy Ann Rush. Their son Jacob Cox was b. 3-16-1762. I have this Jacob married to Elizabeth Hartsock b. 1796. Yes it says they are buried in family burial grounds inW. Bethlehemtwp. Was. Co Penn- near Beallsville.
I might have wrong info here but if I go back to the mid 1800's like what you show it would be my ggrandmother and I have pretty good evidence of that. My Cox line actually crossed with their own Cox line there (2nd cousins) so as you can see it is screwy and hard to follow.
I have Nancy Ann Rush m. to Christopher Cox, then Nancy's brother James Rush b.1784 married a Priscilla Case b. 1780. Priscilla Case's parents were Samuel Case and Mary Heaton (no dates). Jebesh ? Heaton was married possibly a Mary (last name unknown) who then had Mary Heaton. I have no other information right now and if I have confused you I am sorry. If you have any information possibly on a Jebesh and Mary I would be very grateful. You can email me at rayandsue@blackfoot.net
Susan
