I am looking for any information for William Hartsock. He was married to Catherine Heaton. They had the following children, Amanda Jane, Susan, Samuel, William. Catherine died 1868 Keokuk Co. Iowa. By 1870 William was married to Amanda. The 1870 census indicates another child, Catherine 1 yr old. I believe William was a son of Henry and Amy Cox Hartsock. The 1860 census shows William living very close to Aaron Hartsock...his brother? The 1870 census has William living in Tama Co. Iowa. Does anyone have any information for this family?

Don't know if you ever received a reply. You are indirectly related to our family but through another branch. My records show William Hartsock (1825-1892) was married to 1)Amanda Grey Biggs, and 2) a Catherine Heaton (1833-1868). With Catherine he had a son, Samuel Lincoln Hartsock. Katherine Halverson, Samuel's daughter did research on all the Hartsock families in Iowa. In one of her letters she says she was 83 in May 1972. I haven't seen any correspondence since 1978. I have heard since that she did die and is probably buried in Cedar Rapids where she had lived. It appears that they descended from Henry Sr., through Henry Jr. Both of whom were born in Wash. Co., PA. I do have more information if you want to email me.

Hi, just caught the name Heaton and have run across this is my line. I am trying to find information an Mary Heaton who married a Samuel Case. I have no b. or d. I do have a daughter listed as Priscilla case b. 1780 who married a James Rush. I am trying to find possibly a Jebesh Heaton d. abt. 1798? and a Samuel Heaton (possibly Jebeshs' dad) who married a Sarah Handcock. This has been all second hand from a relative so am not positive this info is correct. Double checking. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. Susan

Great to hear from you. I have a Priscilla Case b.abt. 1780m. to James Rush b.abt 1784. Priscilla's parents were Samuel Case ? and Mary Heaton? I have no dates on these two. I also have Mary Heaton's father was Jebesh Heaton? d.abt 1798 and have him married to a Mary? Again not much info. I realize that Elizabeth Hartsock m. Jacob Cox and that Henry Hartsock and Elizabeth Williams? were here parents? Any info you can give me on these families would be a great help. I'll let you have what I have when we confirm we are talking the same ppl. Thank you, awaiting your reply. You can e-mail me at rayandsue@blackfoot.net.

Hi Susan. As we travel a lot, I have records in both our RV and at home. The sources is what I want to find for you! We almost but not quite jive. My Family Tree Maker Program shows: a Catherine Heaton, b Dec. l4, 1833; to a Benjamin and Mary Heaton. She married a William Hartsock in 1853.

Henry Hartsock (Sr., or I,) married Susannah Williams abt. 1780, probably in Washington Co., PA.

Elizabeth Hartsock, dau of Henry Hartsock I, married a Christopher Cox. Elizabeth and Christopher are buried on the original Hartsock farm in PA. One of their children was named Jacob Cox, born in PA, he died in MO, he married Elizabeth Tollon.

Elizabeth's brother Henry Hartsock (Jr. or II) married an Amy Cox. They moved to Ohio after the first five children were born. This Amy is buried in Iowa City, IA, near several of her children.

These people descend from Henry Hartsock (Sr., or I) of E. Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co, PA.

What all do you have? My husband's line descends from Henry I. Thanks.

I will have to get back to you on the Heatons I guess. I am working off info of my aunt and great aunt. My Christopher Cox was married to Nancy Ann Rush. Their son Jacob Cox was b. 3-16-1762. I have this Jacob married to Elizabeth Hartsock b. 1796. Yes it says they are buried in family burial grounds inW. Bethlehemtwp. Was. Co Penn- near Beallsville.
I might have wrong info here but if I go back to the mid 1800's like what you show it would be my ggrandmother and I have pretty good evidence of that. My Cox line actually crossed with their own Cox line there (2nd cousins) so as you can see it is screwy and hard to follow.
I have Nancy Ann Rush m. to Christopher Cox, then Nancy's brother James Rush b.1784 married a Priscilla Case b. 1780. Priscilla Case's parents were Samuel Case and Mary Heaton (no dates). Jebesh ? Heaton was married possibly a Mary (last name unknown) who then had Mary Heaton. I have no other information right now and if I have confused you I am sorry. If you have any information possibly on a Jebesh and Mary I would be very grateful. You can email me at rayandsue@blackfoot.net

Hi Twyla. Do you know if Henry from WA County, Pa is decendent of Peter who emigrated to NJ circa 1724-34? Family moved to Frederick County, Md and some children migrated to PA. Thanks.
