A
Harms Surname DNA Project (
http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Harms) has been established to determine the relationships of the various
Harms families in
America, Germany, and around the world in order to support genealogical research and provide a deeper understanding of
Harms family origins. The project allows participants to have their DNA tested at a group discount and provides a forum to compare DNA results, establish or confirm relationships, and coordinate genealogical research between scientifically proven descendants.
This is a Y-DNA surname study. If you are a man with the surname
Harms, you are eligible to join. If you know a man with the surname
Harms, please encourage him to join.
Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this project is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA25, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with the
Harms surname order a Y-DNA test.
