Would like to find any descendents of Henry A.GOTTSCHALK He is my husbands grandfather. He died in Ohio in 1950-51. His father was Fredrick W. Gottschalk an immigrant from Germany. His mother was Caroline HARSH Gottschalk .Henry had brothers Wm.,Geo., and a sister Dora. There may have been more children. Henry A. was born in Terre Haute , Indiana in abt. 1876. Sure would like to have contact with any of the family.

I visited a Henry Gottschalk in Canton Ohio in the early 50's with my grandfather, Anthony J. Any Canton connection?

Have no idea about where he lived except he and father were living in Dayton area earlier. But by 1950 his father was dead. And Henry was dead by 1951. There was more than one Henry Gottschalk in Ohio from what I found. Do you remember how old a man he may have been? My Henry was born in 1876.
He would have been about 74 years old by then. Thank you for your help.

Sadly, I guess your Henry is different. My grandfather's brother - also know as Pete, was probably in his 70's when we went - and as I get more tuned in, our visit to Canton would have been probably 1956-1957 period.

Thanks for answering. I have always found it hard to solve the Gottschalk mystique. There are enough of us that we could be interesting, but never got much from my grandfather (who was born in the USA).

PLease do keep me im mind in your search for the Gottschalk name. If you come across Henry A. or his father Fredrick. Henry did have a sister Dora and two or three brothers.
All born in Indiana, I believe. Fredrick was born in Germany.

I have been doing some work on the Gottschalk side. My great,great grandmother was Johanna Gottschalk Diedrich. Many of the Gottschalks settled in Napoleon, Ohio. I have found census records to back this up. If your interested, I do have a GED file that I could share. Let me know.
