I'm searching for info on Herbert, I have know birthdate for him. Only know that his father's name was Ludwig Gottschalk and mother was Marie Krueger. He married Lillian Frances Meroney, but they were divorced early in their marriage. My father was their biological son. I believe Herbert died in the 1970's in California. Sound familiar to anyone?

This could be my grandfather...I think he was born July 1895 and he died April 1970..He was married to Anna Viale and had 2 children Louis my father and Norma..

If this Herbert Gottschalk is your grandfather, then that would make us first cousins because Lillian Frances Meroney was my grandmother and Lillian and Herbert had a son, John Edgar who was my father. My father would have been your Louis and Norma's 1/2 brother. Please e mail me, I would love to know more. I am 43 years old and I just recently found out that WELKER (the name my father went by) was not his birth name. Did your Herbert Gottschalk live in Alameda Co. in CA? I was scrolling through some old messages and saw yours. When you first posted it the name Herbert meant nothing to me as I was looking for someone I thought was named Hans. I very recently learned he was actually Herbert John Gottschalk, Born in Germany November 8, !911, came to US through Ellis Island December 1923 with father, Hubert and mother, Wally (nee Fischer). I think he is a brother who lived with parents until Wally's death in NY area, then to California area. The SSDI search had him in Santa Clara until his death in 1983. I would love to get info on his history.

I have a H. Ludwig Gottschalk (name changed to Louis Godschalk in abt 1864). Imm from Germany at age 6 in 1849. Any connection?
