He may have followed Christoph Gombert and his wife Louise who emigrated to Wheatfield in 1852. Philip & Christoph were enumerated next to each of subsequent census records until Christoph's death in 1865 and may have been brothers.
Philip & Caroline had a total of 12 children with 8 enumerated as living on the 1900 US Census, Wheatfield. Their son William and his wife Caroline was enumerated next to Louise & her second husband Wm. Bodeker on the 1870 US Census, Wheatfield altho the enumerator misspelled the Bodeker's last name was "Bradicar."
