Hi

I have been looking at the WWI records of my grandfather Albert Edward Pemberton, according to these he appeared to have a son Sydney Gast born 6th April 1910,in St John's Road Islington,London by Phoebe Gast. He is not named on the birth certificate

My dad was one of 8 children, or as we thought however during a period of illness which lead to his passing away he all of a sudden started to say that he was one of nine!

Regards
Anne

Hi William,

I am always looking for more information. I have Anna Catherine Knipe married to Johann Nicholas Gast. But, I didn't have John Adam Gast, b c 1694, as their parent. My tree states Anna Christina Brandt and Matthey Gast were the parents of Johann Christian Gast, b. 23 April 1726, and Johann Nicholas Gast, b. 7 Dec 1718. Are you a descendent of this Johann Nicholas Gast? I don't have much on his family tree.

Hello, Paul.
I'm new to this, so please excuse me if my protocols are incorrect. I am a descendent of John Nicholas Gast, b. April 21, 1760, who was a son of Johann Christian Gast, b. April 23, 1726 in Odenwald, Germany. Johann Christian Gast was a brother of your Johann Nicholas Gast b c1724 and they were sons of John Adam Gast, b c1694. Both brothers arrived aboard the ship "Neptune", according to my family records. Also according to my family records, Catherine Knipe b. Nov 1771, was wife of my 3-ggrandfather John Nicholis [Nicholas]Gast, b. April 21, 1760. John Nicholas was a nephew of Johann Nicholas and thus would not be in your direct lineage.

Of additional interest to you may be a piece from my family history that indicates John Garman may have been Maria Catherine Gast's second husband. I say "may" because the sister of Johann Nicholas and Johann Christian is unnamed. According to my history, "a sister had arrived earlier [than the two brothers], settling in Berks County, where she married a Henry Shaffer. She was captured by the Indians and was a prisoner for two years. Her husband was killed at the time of her capture. She later married a Tom Garman and was no longer heard from."

Regards,

Bill Gast (Camp Hill, PA, b. 1947, Mifflinburg, Union Co., PA; father Augustus Beaver Gast, b. 1921, Mifflinburg, PA; father Paul Augustus Gast, b. 1891, Mifflinburg, PA; father Frederick Augustus Gast, b. 1848, Mifflinburg, PA; father John Gast, b. c1804, Rebersburg, Centre Co., PA; father John Nicholis [Nicholas] Gast b. 1760, Northumberland Co.
Descendants of Frederick Gast, b 1776, settled in Lancaster, PA

I'm a descendant of Frederick Gast, who migrated from Giessen (Hesse) to Lancaster, PA, in about 1818. He was a basket maker by trade, but his descendants operated the Gast Pottery Works (also known as Eagle) in Lancaster from before 1843 until about 1900. One of his sons was Henry Gast (1806-1889), and Henry's son William Henry Gast (1842-1907) was my father's mother's father. William Henry Gast's wife was Sarah Jane Mullen. With help from two cousins (David Martin and John Long), I've assembled an online photo album that includes William and Sarah's children, some grandchildren, and other relatives. You can view that at https://www.photoshop.com/user/gstradtman . Would be delighted to hear from any other Gast or Mullen relatives. I'm also looking for any descendants of Emma Sarah ( nee: Gast) Kepner, since I have several charming photos of her as a child that should not be lost from her side of the family.

I have been tracking down my family tree and found a Mary Ann Cecilia Siebenhor who married a Gustave Peter in San Antonio in 1894. In know they both came from Alscace Lorraine and that Mary Ann Cecilia Siebenhor had a sister Josephine Siebenhor who I believe married married Gustave's brother Eugene. Does any of this sound familiar. I am trying to track down their point of entry into the US as well as their parents.
