Have you known the ancestory of Frederick Fleet back to circa 15th to 16th century in England? Frederick Fleet was a Titanic crewman in the crow nest where he first saw the hugh iceburg before the ship sank. Titanic is the world's famous ship disaster. When you find the picture of him, you will get free very hugh genealogical chart (see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fleet/ftree.htm).

Frederick Fleet was born on 15th October 1887 at 19 Birchfield Road, Walton, [Liverpool], Lancaster, UK

His mother was Alice Fleet a domestic Servant at the above address. The birth certificate shows no father's name, indicating that Alice was not married. It is understood that she subsequently emigrated to Springfield, Massachusetts, Frederick being placed in an orphanage.

Sadly, in 1965 he committed suicide, his body being discovered on 10th January 1965, following the death of his wife. He is buried in Hollybrook Cemetery, Southampton, Hampshire [note, NOT Sussex], UK.

Pictures and other information (some contain inaccuracies) of Frederick are available on the following websites:

Frederick Fleet was my grandfather's cousin (but sadly they never knew each other!)

Hi Nick,

I've seen your various messages on this Ancestry message board and I wondered if you could give me any more information about Frederick Fleet and his descendants. You say you are related, during your investigations did you find out the names of any children he had or other descendants ? My husband has been told Frederick Fleet was his great grand father and we are trying to prove this either way so any information would be much appreciated.
Please e-mail me at paula.fleet@tagfarnborough.com if you like.
Thanks, Paula

Dear Nick,

I contacted you in 2003 re the above but wondered if now you may be able to help as you may have more information. We have always been told that my husband Len is related to Frederick Fleet, would you be able to help with this ?

His grandfather is Walter James Fleet born 7 Sept 1904 and died January 1991 and who lived in Torquay and Plymouth, whose son is Terence John Fleet born 4/3/1941 in Plymouth, my husband Len is his son.

There is another post on here saying Frederick Fleet married an Annie Clarke, whereas I thought he married Eva Le Gros, can you shed any light on this?

Could you e-mail me back if you need any more information?

Many thanks for your help.

Paula Fleet
