Still looking for info on this grgrandfather of mine. Married Lizzie Flowers Collin Cty, Tx. 1879. My grandmother's bible says he was born Jan. 12, 1858 and he put Va. on every census I could find with him listed. The problem is I can find no record of him before he married. Any leads appreciated.

I'm a descendant of the Flanagan family in Virginia. Was John's wife's name Mary? Children including Walter? Residents of Princess Anne County

Hi. I am a descendant from the Henry Co Virginia Flanagans. I have a John Flanagan (his middle initials P or V, maybe R), born abt 1858. He married Mary Duncan in 1882 and had maybe 7 kids. I know they lived in the Leaksville NC area and buried in the Spray Cemetery there.

Is your John, born ~1858, a descendant of James (b.1730) and Annis (d.4 May 1817)? I descend from their daughter Mary Ann Flanagan (11 Nov 1753 - bet.1820 & 1830) who married (13 Aug 1773 Bedford Co., VA) John Dalton (1754 Bedford Co., VA - 1833 Sumner Co., TN). This family lived in Pittsylvania Co., VA for a time and I thought due to the proximity there might be a connection.

My John's father was Beverly Flanagan (b. abt 1822 in NC). Beverly had two brothers, Burwell and Alexander. Beverly listed Thomas Price as his father on his marriage license in Henry Co VA 1840. We don't know if the Price family took them in or if their mom had them out of wedlock. It is possible they had a sister named Ann who married Thomas Price. Anyway, we have tried to link the brothers to a James Flanagan and a John Flanagan. No luck.

We had a John J. Flanagan in Princess Anne County, married to a Mary, and they had a son named Wesley, among others. He was born in 1814 and was the brother of my wife's great grandfather, William B. Flanagan. Are you a descendant of this John?

Not that I know of, unless my 3 Flanagan boys were brothers or cousins to your John.

I dunno if we are related to this person or not but I know that my name is Mary DeAnna and I was named after a supposedly wealthy aunt Mary Ann so perhaps there is some linneage between us? My Grampa J. Flanagan passed away in Blytheville, Arkansas, he was married to Laverne Geshwint who passed away in PineBluff, Arkansas..but it is supposed to be his dad who is on the final Cherokee Dawes Rolls in Oklahoma, so at some point in time they were over there.

I have no info on any descendants of James Flanagan other than the descendants of his daughter, Mary Ann. Since she married John Dalton, I research that line and no longer follow the Flanagans, so I don't know anything about where they settled. I descend from two of Mary Ann (Flanagan) Dalton's children and most of their descendants remained in Pittsylvania Co., VA.

seems like we may be that missing link, my ancestors quit talking about their family after a falling out three generations ago. My Grampa JW on the final Dawes rolls in Oklahoma had two sons, one his name sake, JW and the other named Glen who I recently heard passed away in Florida. For years we tried to get information about our family, but it was treated like the skeleton in the closet you just never mention, our family was very Victorian. If the names Glen and JW sound familiar at all to you, let me know. Thanks!-M
