I'm looking for information on "JN" Flanagan, John N Flanagan, born in Virginia in 1818. He died on 18 Nov 1877 and is buried at the Masonic Military Cemetery in Metropolis, Illinois. He was married to Sophia J. Martin of Howard Co. Missouri in 1843. Her obituary says she was related to Kit Carson. Their marriage is the earliest record I have found on him. They moved to Crittenten, Kentucky and then to Metropolis. I have not been able to trace him back to Virginia or locate any information on his parents.

Do you know what county he was born in? Just wondering if he was related to my Beverly Flanagan. He was born in NC abt 1822 but lived in Henry Co VA. He had brothers Burwell & Alexander, but I can't find their parents.

I have nothing aditional on him. All the later census reports state he was born in Virginia. The census on him does not say where parents were from. I have no information on when he left Virginia or where he had been prior to his marriage in Missouri. Sorry I can't be of help.
