Hi Doreen,I think we must have a connection somewhere.I was doing a bit of research on behalf of my Uncle, Mr Rex Ewins, who has traced back as far as George Ewins, who as I stated,is buried behind the church porch at Pinvin. There I'm afraid he's got stuck at the moment and can not connect with the family tree that Prof. Hewins produced, which dates back to the Norman Conquest, and the first Ewins mentioned in that had his surname spelt 'IUUEIN'.
I do know that George Ewins was a farmer and market gardener and that his daughter Catherine Ewins kept the off licence come shop in the village. If you would like to give me a ring I will gladly talk. I will ring my Uncle to see if he could pass a copy of our family tree so that we could compere both. You may of course have already been in contact with each other. My Uncle is not in the best of health at the moment,I will try my best. My phone number is 01502-711532. Regards Jeremy

Hi Jeremy
I am researching my family history, and have come across your message on Rootsweb. I know its been sometime since you posted it, but think we MAY have a connection as my ancestors moved from Grafton Flyford (not too far from Pinvin) to Rolfe Street, Smethwick around the same time! My sister and I have researched our tree back as far as 1705 but can't get back any further. How far have you gone back? I am prepared to share my tree, if you are yours.
Hope to hear from you.
Regards
Doreen Frewin

Dear Joan,

Your attached interests me. My direct descent is via the younger brother of Henry Charles Buckett, William Frederick.

However, census returns for Henry Thomas and Caroline Buckett (Henry's parents) show your Mary living in with the Buckett's from 1861 onwards. On only one occasion did Mary disclose that she was Welsh. On other occasions, she was shown from Middlesex and Bermondsey. I have addresses if you are interested?

I know they were poor, especially after the death of Henry Charles Buckett in 1886. Did their descendants emigrate, or you still found living in the UK?

Regards, and hope this helps.

Mark

I have an original carte de visite photograph of “Geo. S. Ewins – ‘83”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was surely taken in 1883 or earlier, (based on the type of photo), and it was taken by E. C. Goldsmith, in Springfield, MA (which is in Hampden Co.). George looks to be about age 20,

I found a George S. Ewins in the 1910 census for Compton (Grafton Co.) NH, with wife Abbie. He was age 46, born NH.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to George S. Ewins.

Since first researching my father's family I have learnt that for several generations the occupation of the family was in market gardening. They were mainly from the Worcester area. I have got back as far as 1841. Are there any other relatives ? I am EWINS by birth now married to Watkins. My forbears were from Kidderminster, Franche, Stoulton and Pinvin. I'd like to know as much about my family so that I can pass it on to my children.
My grandmother was Louise Stephens from Cheltenham. She died early 1970s; she was married to Arthur John Ewins who died in 1917 and born 1883.

My family

Hi, Just stumbled on this site and thought i'd reply to you. My father's name is John Freeman Ewin, grandfather is Freeman Ewin and my great-grandfather is James Hetrick Ewin, who emigrated to Ontario in the mid-1800's from Ireland. Our Ewin family prospered in the southern-Ontario regions of Belmont and London up until the 1930's. There are Ewin's all over the place in the cemetaries there. This was quite interesting for me because my Dad is the only surviving Ewin who had male children (2). My brother married a woman who already had children so I am left as the only Ewin left who could carry on the Ewin name. Our family has had alot of bachelors, of which I am currently one.

Eric
