My Great Great Grandmother, Jesuina Duarte Ferreira Duarte married Manual Duarte. They had three children, Anthony B. Duarte B: 1902, Mary Duarte Rezente B: 1907 and Manual Joseph Duarte B: 1905. Manual lived from 1905 until 1978. Jesuina lived from 1883-1943. It looks like they lived in Oakland, CA. Please send me an e-mail if you know anymore about my family. Thank you.

I am so interested in your post. I have been trying to figure out how the Duarte's and the Rezentes came into the picture in my family.

Manuel Duarte, Jacintho Duarte and M Comt Durarte witnessed my grandparents Marriage in 1893 They all moved to Oakland.

This might be the biggest break yet on my family tree I hope you are still around.

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I would be happy to share the information I've accumulated about the Ferreira and Duarte sides of the family that link to Jesuina Santos. My relatives come from the Ferreira side. I don't know much about descendants or ancestors on the Duarte side except for Mary Duarte who married Manuel Rezente. Given that the posts from sallisouza deal with the Rezentes, I suggest the three of us share what we know since we seem to be distant "cousins." I have been using Reunion software to build my family tree which currently includes a lot of relatives on my mother's side. I'm the granddaughter of Carrie Ferreira who married Manuel Fernandes. Manuel Duarte was her stepfather.

I have been able to identify many of the siblings of Jesuina Santos and have found the descendants of several of them. I also have some info on their ship transit from Madeira to Hawaii, along with a copy of the type of contract they signed to work on a sugar plantation. Read all your back and forth posts re: Duarte family. I too have a Manuel Duarte but it's not the same as yours, sadly. I just thought I would share something that the 3 of you might be interested in. I found this site this morning through facebook it's www.tribalpages.com and it's free. It lets you creat your own website to post your family tree to the web and then you can invite others to come see it and those that are invited can add to the tree, pictures too. So the 3 of you can creat one website that you can all update and get to know more about each others families. I just started it but it looks great. I have my tree on other sites but none that I know of lets you invite others to view or add. Let me know how it works out for you. Take care. Rosanna
