I might be able to help. My gm was a Done from that area of Salford and I have indexed some of the local Dones. To find out if your Annie Done is related I would need to know your ggf's name and occupation from your grandmothers wedding certificate.
(or someone like a great aunt born before 1901)

Done may be a rare name where you are but it was fairly common in Salford and Manchester ca 1900.

Best regards,
Martin Brown
Done's in Utah then California

Willard Twin Done married Sarah Amanda Forbes 23 Dec 1885. They had 10 children. Irene b. 10 Aug 1888, Joseph Forbes b. 21 Aug 1890, Willard Vivian b. 22 Apr 1893, Cyril Frederick b. 5 May 1895, Phyllis b. 4 Decc 1896, Kenneth Wilford b.3 Dec 1898, Douglas Ezra b. 12 Sep 1900, Charles Reginald b. 20 Jul 1902, Marjorie b. 15 Apr 1905 (the woman that raised my dad), Nancy Elizabeth b. 8 Aug 1908. They were all born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sometime soon after my father was received into the home of Marjorie and Ralphbert Lionel LEWIS, 1927, they went to California. Their first residence was in Riverside. Later they moved to Los Angeles County, city of Lomita where my father grew up and met my mother. My query here is to learn if any of the other Done members of Marjorie's family moved to California also. I have death locations for most of them as being in Utah somewhere. I don't have death locations for Joseph, Douglas, Kenneth, or Phyllis. Does anyone know if any of these remaining Done's went to and died in California? I'm trying to locate someone who might know of the circumstances regarding the arrival of my father- who his natural parents were. My father didn't know Marjorie and Ralphbert weren't his bio parents til he was in his 50's. We would like to learn who his natural family was. Thank you for any information you may have.

I am looking for documentation referred to in the life history of James Done written by his granddaughter Dora Jones Hancock (Camp Seagull of DUP). I would like to have a copy of the "receipt" of the immigration fund (PEF) that he received and Dora states is in her possession. I do not know how long ago this history was written as the copy I have is not dated. Her grandmother's name was Ellen Parker Done and the PEF receipt would have been incurred from her emigration with the Martin Handcart Company in 1856.

I just started searching on this website and I am having trouble finding information and making connections between relatives. I hardly have any information at all, because it looks like my immediate family's history is kind of cloudy. All I really know is that my grandfather's name was Hollis Done. He lived in California. I don't have a birth year, but he died in 1972. The only information I can find on him is his death certificate. From what I can recall from my memory, he was born in Indiana, and still possibly has family there. If anyone knows anything more, I would really appreciate any responses. I know I didn't have much information to start out with. Thanks.

You are right--there aren't too many who spell their name Done.

Back in the 1790 US Census for Pennsylvania, there was a Titus Done living in Northumberland County ( the part he lived in is now Lycoming County. He married Mary Colborn, daughter of John Colborn and his wife Sarah Hoagland Colborn. Titus also appears in the 1800 US census in Pennsylvania, and then vanishes.

Mary Colborn had a brother Robert who is my ancestor. He married Edith Doan (Done,Dunn, ?).Mary and Robert's father John Colborn had a son Jonathan Colborn, whose son Thomas Colborn was ordained in the Mormon Church about 1832 in Kirkland, Ohio. That date may not be correct, but he did go to Salt Lake City with his wife and children in 1847, and he died there in abt 1875.

Curious to know if there is any connection. According to information in the Lycoming Historical Society, Titus Done was a Weaver by occupation.

At the present time I have no information relevant to your time period. MY Edith Done(or Doan, or Dunn) was born in 1776 and came from New Jersey. Titus Done who married one of my ancestor Robert Colborn's sisters, may have gone to Canada. He was a weaver by trade and I have not been able to trace him since 1800 in Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

Douglas

Connie,

The information that I have on Thomas Baker Hickey and Lethy Done is as follows: Thomas Baker Hickey was born March 13, 1820 in Lee County Tenn. and Lethy Done was born November 18, 1825 in Clay County, KY. They were married March 13, 1851. I am spelling her name as it came from the copies of the family bible of A.C.Griffitts and Sarah Jane Hickey Griffitts that I have.My gggrandmother was Sarah Jane Hickey. I have found a Henry Done who could possibly be Lethy's father in the 1830 census of Clay County. Also he was in the land grants of 1832 in Laurel County. Lethy's second child, Sarah Jane Hickey, was born in Laurel County. Also one of Lethy's children was named Henry. I can't prove it but I am still trying to piece together. Also according to the bible record of A.C. and Sarah Jane, Lethy was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. Thomas Baker Hickey and Lethy Done are listed on the 1860 Census record in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
Please let me know if you have any other information that might be helpful. My e-mail address is mallard@kvnet.org. Thanks, Mary

I have a Grandmother who had the maiden name of Annie Done and she married William Rapley in around 1935, I think. They lived in the Ordsall area of Salford and my father was born in 1951, John Rapley. I just wanted to know if anyone could help me find out more about them.

I am also related to Thomas Baker and Leatie Done through their son,Henry Harrison Hickey. I have him born in Laurel, Kentucky about 1817 and Leatie born about 1825 according to the 1850 Census. I have information on the family on down but nothing on Thomas and Leatie's parents. Where did you come up with the info that Leatie may be Cherokee? I would be interested in seeing what you have and I will gladly share my info with you. Contact me at lisapenn@your-net.com

Mind me, but I've just started this geneology stuff, but .....hey, are you really a Done? There ain't too many of us out there at least under this spelling anyway.Don't know if we're actually related yet...got to talk to the Dad first, but then again, maybe you can help. My father's name is Raymond Done....Clair Raymond Done, to be exact..he was born in 1928 in the state of Utah and he had a brother by the name of Claine and a sister by the name of Arlene...does that ring a bit of a bell? I've taken it upon myself being the black sheep of the family to research our family on both sides and since my dad is of the Mormon persuasion I figured that it would be easier to start on his side( the church keeps records on every sneeze since the beginning of
Time!).....anyway, please get back to me if any of this blather sounds even remotely familiar.....thanks very much for your time, and take care and hope you have a terrific weekend!!!Sincerely, Alicia Done
