Hi Karen,
I'm researching this same family, hoping (praying) that this is my "
Antoine Donais"'s family.
I found a couple of census entries that will interest you.
1860 Nov 14 Census;
Maple Grove;
Hennepin Co. MN; Pg# 116 & 117; Dw# 1141; Fam# 975;
Beaudreau (spelled
Bodreau on census), John 33, b. Can,
Farmer, Value of Real Estate $1,600, Value of Personal Estate $700; w/Leonora D. 33 b. Can; Mariah 16; Joseph (Jos) 14; Ellen 12; (next pg.) Mary 8; Anna 6; Christine 5; (Can't read name--looks like Zetelend??) age 3; Sarah 2; + Frank Donnah? (possibly
Francois Donais??) 25, Laborer, born Can & Louis Luses/Leises? Laborer b. Can. (Mariah & Joseph b. Can; all other children b. MN
With that in mind that I looked him up on the 1870 census. I found John
Baptiste, but no Eleanor/Leonor! Don't know what to make of this. Here's the listing:
1870 Jul 30 Census;
Maple Grove;
Hennepin Co. MN; Pg# 24?; Dw# 133; Fam# 133;
Beaudreau, John 47
Farmer, born Can; Value of Real Estate $3,000; Value of Personal Estate $695; w/Emma 45 b. Can; Christian 16 works on farm (in the 1860 census is listed as Christine & Female; here is listed as Christian &
Male???); (next child's name is illegible again, but looks like Whitoraina ) age 14; Sarah 12; Caroline 10; Jenette 7; & John 3/12. (All children b. MN)
I'm sure they're both the same family. Do we assume Eleanor died between 1860-1870? Or could 'Emma' be another form of Eleanor?
Anyway...hope this helps!
Best Regards,
Judy King
