Donais research

I am also doing Donais research, and trying to get all of the Donais/Daunais I can find. I have your parents names in my database, but unfortunately do not know who your grandparents are. Maybe we could compare notes and come up with some connections. I have about 3000 Donais in my database.

I have traced the grandparents to Canada and from there nothing. I would like to compare some notes with you. Do you have a site that I can see some of your names and maybe I can add to the list. Sincerely..

Donais

I have a website, but it does not have particular individuals named in it. I only maintain my genealogical data in an off-line database. If you are back to Canada, maybe we can connect. I have a majority of the Donais/Daunais in Canada from published repertoires. Do you know where in Canada they came from?

Father's side

Grandfather Frank Donais came from Prov. of Quebec. and was an only child. Have not been able to trace back from there. Can not even prove a middle name or birth date. He married a Mary Fregeau from Prov. of Quebec. That is as far as we can trace. If you have any information I would appreciate any help you can share..It seems the Donais had only one surving son to carry the name for a few generations. Even as we speak the new generation has only one son to carry the name. Thank You for any help you can provide to us.

I have a Francois DONAIS married to Marie FREGEAU on 8 July 1879 at La Nativite, Montreal.

If you want, I can provide some info going back in time. In exchange, I'd like to get some info going forward to connect up some of my loose ends.

Its my birthday Sunday, so I am tied up this whole weekend and the repair guys are coming back Monday to finish working on my poor computer ( Nancy) Grin.. I can not wait to talk more with you. I don't know if there's a connection, but my gggrfa, Cyrill Donais (son of J-B Donais and Aurelie Baudreau) moved from Sorel, QC with his brothers Pierre, Maxime, and Francois to St. Paul, MN in 1865. Pierre and Maxime returned to Quebec, and Francois moved on to Massachusetts. Their youngest brother was Olivier who lived mostly in Canadian territory and was quite famous. That's all I know--hope it helps.
