John CUNLIFFE born in County Lancashire, England probably in 1758 moved to Virginia in the late 1770's.

He married to Esther Hughes in 1789. They settled in Chesterfield County, Va. mostly in Manchester. He was a partner in the coal mines of that area.

John and Esther had 9 children:

Eliza Ann CUNLIFFE b.1792

Charles CUNLIFFE 1793-1839

Augustus CUNLIFFE b. abt. 1795-d. bef. 1835

Richard CUNLIFFE b. abt. 1798

Agnes CUNLIFFE 1800-1876

William CUNLIFFE 1801-1871

Edwin CUNLIFFE b. 1808

Mary W. Cunliffe 1813-1847

John and Esther CUNLIFFE were my 5th ggrandparents. I have ALOT more on all of these people and most of the children of the ones who were married.

As you know by now I have e-mailed you and sent you a generational report on 4 generations of John Cunliffe's descendants.

Just in case anyone else is interested in our posts here, I will mention that some of his descendants spread to Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Virginia, Mississippi, Indiana.
