I am searching for information on the above family. Mark Crowder was born in 1747. His son, James, born in 12/16/1771 father Mark Henry Crowder born 12/25/1809. These are relations of my step-father, William Rutherford Crowder. I had once located someone on here who gave me a copy of some newspapers that they had found and I have since misplaced. It was a very interesting story about a slave on the Crowder Plantation in Meriwether Co., Ga. There is a very, very old cemetery there with many Crowders buried on it and the beautiful homeplace is now being restored. We are looking for information about any of the Crowders in that area. A published history of Mark and Anne (Barlow) Crowder Of Brunswick County, Virginia written by Thomas Warren Crowder and his wife Phyllis (Hoggatt) Crowder (myself), can be found in The Genealogist, Spring 2006 Issue, Vol. 20, No. 1, published by the Picton Press. This history also includes a short history on the families of the 8 children of Mark and Anne (Barlow) Crowder. Our research has made it possible for Mark Crowder to be accepted by the SAR and the DAR as a Patriot. We will share information with other family members of this line. Phyllis
