Sue, I am responding to your e-mail as my Grandfather was Edouard Lagueux, whom emigrated to the U.S. from Canada with his mother and a brother, named Joseph Lagueux, and two sisters. His father was also named Joseph Lagueux but apparently he left my great grand-mother in Canada. That is when at the age of 7, my grandfather and his siblings along with his mother landed in Fall River, Mass. My grandfather never knew his father and his brother Joseph also disappeared after they came to the United States. Their is a possibility that he was lost at sea on a whaling ship but that has never been confirmed. My father, whom is now deceased as of two years ago, wrote a two genealogy books on my family. One was of my mother's lineage, Lagueux and the other was of my father's French lineage. These are published in on record in the genealogy library, I believe in Quebec or Montreal, Canada. I had started a search for Joseph L., the Father, and also Joseph L. , the brother. Both have remained mysteries up to this point and all thru my dad's recordings and research. It came to a dead end- my father suspected that Joseph Lagueux, the father, might have remarried. Joseph, the son, whom would have been my great-uncle, still remains a mystery. When I saw your e-mail today by accident as I was looking at information concerning our recent terrorist attacks on the U.S., I saw a Genealogy interest site and clicked. I would like to look at my books and give you more precise information with birth dates, etc. which I have but just not at my desk at this moment. Perhaps we might be able to solve each other's questions partially. In response to your question on whether it is possible that their is Indian heritage in the Lagueux name- yes, it is very possible according to what I have been told by my family that our French heritage is strongly linked with the Indians, especially when you go back to those years. My grand-parents were all blue-eyed on both sides as well as my parents and I was born with very dark eyes. Who knows? When you refer to everyone in your family has the same eyes, are you referring to the shape and color? I certainly would like to correspond with you further on our Lagueux famiy heritage. My grandfather, Edouard or Edward, married Claudia
Benoit in Fall River,
MA. Again, I will refer to my father's genealogy books when we hopefully speak on this again. Sincerely, L. Frese/Berube
