Henry COOPER from Belhelvie, Aberdeen

Henry Cooper was born 21st April 1893 at Belhelvie, Aberdeen, Scotland son of John Cooper and Margaret Smith. The rest of the family were Mary Ann b1884, James b1887, John b1889, Alexander Forbes b1891, Margaret Allardyce b1897 and Charles b1900. Henry disappeared after being on leave from the Seaforth Highlanders in 1917 and his subsequent whreabouts are unknown. There is no record of him dying in WW1 and he was thought to have gone to North America.

O.V. Morris Dies from Heart Disease

At his home in this city, last Monday morning, Oliver Vinton Morris, one of the best known residents of Placerville, paid the final debt to Nature and passed to his reward in the hereafter. He had been a sufferer from heart disease for a long time and had been told by his physicians that the end might come at any hour; but he bore his weakness without complaint, and was about the street Sunday evening as well as usual. His daughter, Mrs. Amy Peterson, and little granddaughter, Olive, had been here for some time and were with him when the final summons came. Mr. Morris was a native of Pennsylvania, 77 years of age at the time of his death. He was married in 1854 to Miss Emma Williams of Winchester, and with his wife went to Hannibal, MO., where they made their home until 1860, when they came to California and located in Placerville, where he has since resided, his wife having preceded him in death about eight years. Three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Dansfield, of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Amy Peterson, of San Francisco; and Mrs. Flora Payne of Stockton, with one grandchild, Olive Peterson, are left to mourn his loss; besides two sisters, Mrs. A.B. Cooper of Colusa and Mrs. A Couch of Oregon.

Mr. Morris was member of Palmyra Lodge, No. 26, F. and A., Masons, Morning Star Lodge No., 20, I.O.O.F., and Placerville Lodge, No. 70, K. of P., all of this city. He was a man of sterling integrity, kind and open hearted, and his friends were those who knew him intimately.

The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon from Masonic Temple, under the auspices of the orders of which he had been an honored member for so many years. The services were conducted by Rev. Samuel Mills of the Episcopal church, with appropriate music by Mrs. S.H. Rantz, Mrs S.B. Wilson, Wm. Bland, and A.S. Fox. The pall-bearers were: J.S. LaRue, D.S. Simon, A. Pierroz, John Pearson, S.B. Wilson, and Frank Smith, and the interment was in Union Cemetery.

Searching for info on George and Maggie Cooper from somewhere in Texas. George was born in 1874 either in the State of Missouri or Missouri City, Fort Bend, Texas. Maggie I think was born in Texas in 1877 or 1887 not sure which. I have conflicting info on the both of them so I'm not sure what is right or wrong. I have found them in Ellis County Texas in the 1930 census but anything after that I'm not sure. If anyone can shed some light on this I would be very grateful.

It is their First Child a son they named: James Preston Cooper whom died in 1863 MO that married a FIRST Cousin:

As of this date I do not find on this board or within the FTDNA Cooper Project any participants from the descents of JOHN FRANCIS COOPER who married MOURNING SIDEBOTTOM born 5 FEB 1812 near town of Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky and she died after year 1880 in MO.

They were part of a family migration of SIDEBOTTOM / GRAHAM / SULLIVAN / COOPER from Kentucky abt year 1849 by Steamboat from Louisville to St. Louis and entered the lands of then Morgan County, MO. These families had obtained land grants and parcels that expanded from Morgan County, into Miller county, Osage and other nearby MO counties.

John Sidebottom b: 11 DEC 1750 Prince William County, PA and d: 28 APR 1823 at home of another daughter 'Nancy Sidebottom Sullivan' living in Mason County, KY.

JOHN was married to Jane (Jenny) McCarty b: ABT 1777 VA- d: 24 MAY 1844 Missouri.

That made John Francis Cooper their son-in-law.

Cathie Durrant, DOB 5/22/1970 in Boise, Idaho, was privately adopted out from St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. She is going simultaneously blind and deaf and desperately needs to know if there is a genetic history in her family. Her mother's name is Cheryl Cooper, DOB April of 1953. Cathie would never bother her mother and wishes only to get some needed genetic information. She is gifted musically, plays the piano, violin and guitar, but is losing her ability to play. She has the same longing to know where she is from in the world and feels the pain of having no legacy, but is sensitive and thoughtful of her mother's need for privacy. Would you please help me? I'm looking for information on a Martha Cooper, born about 1858, who married William C. English prior to 1880. William & Martha (Mattie) are found living in Muddy Creek, Butler County, PA in 1880. They had a son, Robert Burton English, born November 1880. William English appears in 1900 living in New Castle, Lawrence County, PA married to his second wife, Mary Bowser who he married in April 1882. What happened to Martha Cooper English?

Mary, I am John Cooper of Lizton Indiana. Paul Victor Cooper is my grandfathers half brother. His Mother was Rose A Wilson and his father was Joel Sanders Cooper. He was born in Kansas City Mo. 9 Aug 1904. The last record of him I have is at the Soldiers and Sailors Orphan home in Knightstown Indiana in 1920. He has 4 half brothers and 4 half sisters. Paul is in the 1910 Indiana census in Indianapolis. I do not know what happened to him after 1930 in Penn. I look forward to sharing what I can. John.

Seeking information on Joseph Cooper and his ancestors.. According to Civil War pension records, he was born in Lawrence, Stark Co.,OH. He and other Coopers from that area settled in Williams Co area of OH before 1850. He married twice: Elizabeth Pool in Williams Co OH and Mary Ann Warning in Grand Traverse Co MI. My research is to connect & prove he is related to the Griffith Cooper family that also from Stark Co OH and later living in Williams Co OH. Joseph Cooper died in Grand Traverse Co MI in 1899.

We found something on a cooper that was born abt. 1878 in Illinois with a wife by the name of Nellie J. they are white but I am thinking that They had a slave by the name of charlse cooper I just wonder if you have that info or anything else that you might be able to shed some light on it?

The Ferris Lanier Cooper mentioned in your post is the sister of my mother. Aunt Ferris died in March 0f 2008. She was 92 years old. Her son Charles Madison Cooper "Bucky" died in 1955 in an automobile accident while in the Air Force. he was only 19 at the time. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. Nick

Hello. I may (or may not) know who the people shown in the photo are. I am the son of Willis Cooper who is the son of Charles, son of William. Their homestead was on the Block Road near Arbella, Michigan. My Uncle Charlie Cooper lived off Irish Road in Millington. I went to the Cooper reunions until the early 80's at his farm there of which I have many photos. In the 70's was built an area in the back area of the property where the reunions were always held. The family lived also adjacent to that property as I recall.

Do you have any idea where in NC Samuel Cooper was born? I am researching a NC Cooper line from Camden/Pasquotank counties. I'm stuck in the 1785-1805 time frame. My Benjamin Cooper, b 1801, had a father named Samuel but I haven't been able to find out about any siblings. There is a family story passed down that there were 3 Cooper brothers who split up and moved elsewhere, mine staying in pasquotank.

I have "met" several other researchers online who are all stuck in the 1785-1805 time frame, trying to find where their male Cooper ancestor came from.

I know it's a longshot but please keep me posted!

Ephraim Johnson married Celia Smith May 25, 1844, Marshall Co., MS. They're listed on the 1850 Marshall Co., MS census, #242. Ephraim b. 1819 TN.

Are they related? What happened to the Johnson children?

The 4 oldest children of Samuel & Nicy were born in TN.

I have William Cooper and his wife, Mary Thurston in my family tree. William is my first cousin, three times removed. I visited the town of Dunsford about five years ago. The clerk at the convenience store where I stopped to enquire as to the location of the cemetery, called the local Thurston genealogist for me. He invited me to his house in the village. He had a very full family tree, but the last name Marshall did not ring a bell. We searched the tree and found the name, with not one iota of information. He asked me for help. I was in touch with another relative later that year and told her of my visit. She told me that William and Mary left Dunsford after the smithy burned. She did not know the year it happened. She has only five children in her information; Bertha (1883-84), Percy (b&d 1886), Ida Garnett (1887-unk), Harry (possibly Henry William) (unk-unk) and Flossie (Florence) (unk-unk). Does that add anything to your informationn?

William James Cooper, born about 1856 in Cavan Township, Ontario who married Mary Catherine Thurston, born in 1859 in Verulam Township, Ontario. William and Mary were married on March 3, 1880 in Dunsford, Ontario. William was a blacksmith.

William and Mary had 6 children: Garnette, Harry, Flossie, Bertha, Percy and Ida.

Gail Yes I do have information on the Coopers from Isaac and Prudence on to today. The part that is missing is from Isaac back to Philadelphia. From a DNA study I know we are related to James Fenimore Cooper the author of New York. Much has been speculated of his ancestry back to England but I have yet to see any hard documentation. Kannon Cooper's daughter Holanbury Cooper married Howell Cooper on 12 Dec 1784 in Warren County, NC. Their son, Howell Cooper, Jr., was born there in ca.1792. They moved to Jasper County, GA ca. 1805. Who was Howell Cooper, Sr.? Is he the same as the Howell Cooper who was in Surry County, VA? Were Howell Cooper, Sr. and Holanbury Cooper cousins?

I am trying to find the birthplace of Alfred George COOPER
who married Ellen?Ella Ann McGlashon in Hastings County, Ontario Canada in 1915.
The only information on the MC says that he was born in England about 1889. His parents were Alfred Annia Cooper and Martha Cordrey.
I did find an Alfred and Martha on the UK 1891 census but they do not have an Alfred George b 1889. They have an Alfred A. about 7 years old and a George about 3.
I cannot find a marriage for Martha Cordrey to an Alfred Cooper.
Does anyone have any ideas about where to go next?

I'm not sure if Joseph was in North Carolina, but his grandfather John M.Cooper, married to Rebecca Covey was from there around 1790. Joseph was born in Hardin County, Tennessee 9/11/1889. I do not know when he left Tennessee but he ended up in Joplin, Missouri. Joseph's father was Russell Ray Cooper, 2/11/1852, also from Hardin County. He was married to Suzanne Tennon Smith. She died 4/20/1892. Not sure where. Joseph had 3 brothers, Daniel, John and Robert and one sister Elizabeth. He was previously married to Ester Tankersley in 1910. They had a daughter, named Velma born 9/19/1910-1/4/1992. This is about all I have other than he was married to Opal Bowles in 1930.

My Grandmother was Emily Alice COOPER born 8 November 1899 at 10 Fowler street, Derby, to Alice COOPER (nee BREWIN) and George Frederick COOPER.

Lost track of Elsa Cooper. Last I heard she moved from Brookings, Or. She was an Acree. Her sister is my wifes birth mother. We hope she is OK. She lived in Bend, Or for a while. Don;t know what school they went to.

DOD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Christopher M. Cooper, 28, of Oceanside, Calif., died Oct. 30 in Babil province, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Schweinfurt, Germany.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Mary A. Cooper was her sister-in-law died 1890.
Joseph E. cooper was her nephew, died 1891.
