I am looking for information about my gggrandfather, Sterling Cooper, born in N.C. in 1827. He migrated to Vigo Co. Indiana sometime before 1850. He lived his life in the Vigo Co. Ind. and Coles/Clark County Illinois area. He married Amanda ? and they had several children including, Benjamin Franklin Cooper born 1873, William who lived in Edgar County, Illinois as late as 1939, and Callie Hylman who lived at Terre Haute, Ind. as late as 1939. Sterling died in 1920 in Coles County, Illinois and is buried at the Dunlap Cemetery at Clark County, Illinois. Any leads would be appreciated.

I found out yesterday that the father of Sterling Cooper was Benjamin Franklin Cooper and that he was born in North Carolina. The mother was not listed.

I am searching for confirmation of a Benjamin Cooper who would have been born between 1904 and 1918, possibly in North Carolina, where his sister, Mattye Belle was born in December of 1903. He had another brother, William Edward, and another sister who grew up to marry a D. Suddreth. Their parents were William Edward Cooper, Sr., and Nancy Ellen Ballew. Is this your Benjamin Cooper?
I have been told that my Benjamin died in his teens from an accidental gunshot wound, possibly in Tennessee.

Mindy,
I realize this message is very old, but thought i would try anyhow. I too, am searching for info on Benjamin F. Cooper, b.abt 1797 in NC. He ended up in Daviess co., IN. I only show him having 8 children, hadn't found a Sterling, but that doesn't mean they are not connected. My line comes down thru his daughter Rosanna who married Jonas Smith in 1827 in Daviess co., IN.
If you have any other info please let me know.
Thanks
Paula
