Looking for information on the family of my gr-gr-gr grandfather Michael Joseph Conroy. He married a Catherine ?Malerdy/Maleedy/Maleady on 1.12.1856 in Strokestown, Roscommon. They had ?7 children: Peter (b ~1857), John (b ~1859), Catherine (b ~1861), Patrick (b 29.2.1864), Michael (b 9.9.1866), Martin (b 26.5.1869 - my gr-gr grandfather) and Bridget (b 16.2.1872).

I have been able to trace my conry / conroy roots via Martin to Lancashire, Eng and then Dunbartonshire, Sco but am keen to find out more about his siblings and his parents Michael Joseph & Catherine.

I have a Michael J Conroy; an Ellen L "Nelly" (Malady) Conroy; and a Catherine Malady, sister of Ellen

Many thanks for replying to my post. I keep seeing Malady/Malerdy etc spelled so many different ways. There must be a connection. Just checked the death cert for Martin Conroy (Michael Joseph Conroys & Catherines son) and Catherines surname on it was Malady! I have attached cert. Was your Ellen married to Michael Joseph as well? Did they have any family?

I would be grateful if there was anything you can add - I have ground to a halt with this side of my family.
