I am looking for a John Coker born October 14, 1829 in Cornwall, England. He moved to the US around 1850. He settled in Grant County, Wisconsin until 1883-1885. John then moved to Sutherland, Nebraska with his wife Adelaide.

Any information would be appreciated, but mainly looking for his ancestors.

We are looking for London Coker, born 1807 in Alabama. Census card says his father Alex was a non-citizen of the Creek Nation Tribe.

In answer to a message concerning London Coker - there is a London Coker that my family is descended from - he is buried on Coker allotment west of Seminole, Oklahoma. I know his Dad was Alec Coker - need to know his Mom's name. London Coker was enrolled Creek Indian - I have his Creek Enrollment Number. Please reply.

Your Coker was married to Mary Washburn. They had several children. Washburn could have been related to Jacobs.
Do you have pictures of London?/Alec (fthr)?
What is his role number? I believe I have been to the Coker Cemetery, as I mention, Cokers are closely related. My gmthr was a Coker. Cokers have a family reunion every year about this time.

I wonder which Coker Cemetery you are referring to. There is one just outside of Zolfo Springs, Fla. If you have people there we are probably related, plus you name sounds familiar. My grandfather was Lewis Coker, son of Jonathan and Mary Serene Hicks Coker. My e-mail is anndean804@cs.com. Let me hear from you. Ann Coker Wilson

My uncle is a descendent of John Coker > Henry
Coker>Franklin Henry Coker>Charles Franklin
Coker. In a personal interview with Charles
Franklin Coker, he stated that John came from
Cornwall, England. John's father was a Hubert
Coker, and that when he visited Sutherland,
Neb. on his return the ship sank and Hubert
died at sea. Would like to correspond with
you. I am just beginning my search for
Cokers and would like to share info.

Rich,
It is good to hear from someone finally. We definitely have the same line. Actually I'm not a Coker, but I am researching my boyfriend's family. His line goes as follows John Coker>Walter >Mainard Peyton> Roland Stanley> Daniel Frederick Coker.

Roland gave me some info from his cousin Charles (I think he called him Chic?)would this be the same Charles? I recently heard the story about Hubert's boat, but they haven't found any record on it. It would probably be easier just to email me. My address is lemon_head@hotmail.com Then we can compare notes. Look forward to hearing from you.

I am interested in what Coker info you have/where you got it. If Mainard ran the grocery store in Sutherland NE and Charles was an architect( I think) in Denver , I stayed in his house once. My father was Franklins youngest brother , Paul Hubert Coker. Because my father moved to WI ,then Chicago, we had very little contact with the family. Henry Coker was married to Alverda Peale and the Peale family has a pretty extensive genealogy

Glen,

Mainard did run the grocery store in Sutherland, NE. I don't know much about Charles. I believe I received an email from your sibling.

My information came from Roland Coker. He has the Sutherland Centennial Book, Lincoln County History Book, and another book which was about families in Grant County, Wisconsin. Charles (grandson to Henry and Alverda Coker) gave Roland copies of John Coker's marriage cert, discharge papers, and naturalization records. Also have copies of John's sister Charlotte's marriage certificate. A couple different people hired genealogists to research in England. One was William Stewart "Stew" Coker I believe. His father was William Sherman Coker, who was a brother to Henry. The Henry who married Alverda Peale.

If you have access, it might be easier to email me. My address is lemon_head@hotmail.com
