I am also researching the Coker surname. My gggg uncle was Randolph Coker. He was the son of Joseph Dempsey Cynthia (Rogers) Coker. Cynthia was either full or half blooded Indian. Her father's name was Chief John Rogers. These Cokers all resided in No. Arkansas. Joseph had alot of children, too numerous to mention here. If this sounds like the same line you are looking for contact me.

Looks like we've found a match! If I am correct, your gggg uncle Randolph Coker was the brother to Dempsey Fields Coker. Both of them being children of Joseph Coker and Cynthia (Rogers) Coker. Dempsey Coker would be my gg grandfather. You mentioned that Joseph had numerous children, too many to mention. How many were there? I would be very grateful for whatever information you have regarding this Coker line!

Joseph Dempsey Coker is my 4th Great Grandfather. Through my research I have found that Joseph had taken three wives. Cynthia Rogers was a white woman from Alabam to them was born Randolph Coker, John Rogers Coker, George Coker. Cynthia died shortly after the birth of George Coker.

Joseph then married Ainey "cherokee" to them were born the following.
Laferty "coon", Minerva, Joseph "Little Joe", Dempsey Fields, Jane, Rebecca and Mary Ann. Mary Ann is my GGG Grandmother.

Joseph Coker was married illegally to a third woman who was also a cherokee indian to them were born the followin.
Sallie, Betsy and William "Prairie Bill"

Hope this helps for more information on the coker family refer to the Turnbo Tales it has quite a bit of information regarding the families that first settled in the White River Arkansas area.

The Turnbo Tales are written in a book called the "White River Chronicles". I know this book can be obtained through "The Ozark Mountaineer" in Branson, Missouri but, you can probably find it at Barnes Noble or some other bookstore.
