Bonjour Roger:

Merci Beaucoup.I appreciate the information regarding my GGD & GGM. It was a great help. We live in Blackstone, MA very close to Woonsocket, RI the home of many French Canadian immigrants including my family. It has not been difficult to trace my ancestry so far locally but I expect some difficulty as we explore Canada. My hope is to trace back to their origins in France which is sounds like you have been able to do with the Cloutier branch.

FYI American-French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket with WWW.afgs.org website might be useful to you.I plan to visit them next week.

I have cousins residing in CA whom I haven't seen since a child. My uncles Leo & Donat moved there many years ago and at the time resided in Anaheim when it consisted mainly of just strawberry fields.

I would welcome any additional info on the Cloutier branch if it is not to much trouble. Likewise, If I can provide you with any info let me know.

Salut,

Roger Boisvert

PS. I have gone through some Woonsocket Church records located at the Harris Library and found many references to the Cloutier family.

Alphonse was my great grandfather. He had a farm in Blackstone MA but died in Woonsocket RI April 24th 1911, my father was born (his grandson) April 24th 1912. Piere was his father and was very rich. When he died he left money which allowed my grandfather and Alphonse to come here from Canada. They had settled in Avenir Canada and there is the old cemetery there. There was a lot of intermarriage between Boisvert and Cloutier (three brothers married three sisters) My gandparents were first cousins Boisvert/Cloutier. I have done the geneology and have photos so if you interested you can reach me at rolandwboisvert@hotmail.com. Oh yes, my brother is also Roger.

Bonjour Jody,

I am convinced that all Cloutiers of North America are related. Vitaline Cloutier and Alphonse Courtemanche married at the St John the Baptist church in Suncook, NH on 6 Jan 1879. Unfortunately the parents shown on the church record do not provided the mothers' maiden name. Alphonse's parents are J Courtemanche & Angélique. Vitaline's parents are Jean-Baptiste Cloutier & Marie.

This is not sufficient to positively identify Vitaline's parents. They MAY be Jean-Baptiste Cloutier and Marie Martel married in Drummondville, Quebec in 1835. They had a daughter Vitaline born in 1856 for which I know no outcome. But I HAVE NO PROOF OF THIS. I'm making this suggestion in case something rings a bell for you.

In the Suncook church registers, another Cloutier marriage shows the same parents. Moïse Cloutier & Virginie Labrecque on 26 Jan 1879.

Yiou may get back to may at cloutierjraf@videotron.qc.ca.

Salut !

Roger

Roger, thank you for your post. What is your connection with Alphonse and Vitaline?Where were you able to access the marriage date for them?I received the name Vitaline Clouthier ( spelled with an H ) while looking for a marriage certificate for Anna Courtemanche and Joseph Riel. I found that information through the (AFGS.org) the American French genealogical society in R.I.The wedding date for Joseph Riel and Anna ( Alphonse and Vitaline's daughter) is 18th of June 1906 at St. Hyacinthe Church, New Bedford Mass.Anna's DOB.B is listed as 12 March 1886 in Valcourt Co. Shefford Quebec. D.O.D. listed as 27th of December 1967. I hope this is of some help to you as well. Please send me anymore information you come accross.
