I am searching for my family line of Chases from VT, I found up to Henry Chase married to Nancy Magoon, his father was Samuel Chase. That is where I am stuck. Henry was born in 1835 and died in1904. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know if Henry Chase had any brothers? Also do you know the name of Samuel Chase's wife?

I am looking for the husband of Joanna Chase who daughter Susannah/Lusannah in 1750s. Susannah married John Howland in Pawlings, Dutchess Co. in 1774. Her mother was named as Jo(h)anna Brown. Joanna's husband by that time was Capt William Brown of the militia. He died in Ontario in 1813 but don't know where Joanna died.

Is there any record in your line of a Joanna widowed by a Chase in the late 1750s, early 1760s who might have had a daughter Susannah/Lusannah?

Thanks Lois

I really don't know, as I am stuck around 1825. I have one lead that may put me back one more generation.

Kris, my Henry Chase b. abt 1836, Canada d.?
I found him in the 1850 census for Bolton, Underhill, VT, with his parents, Samuel and Amy.
In the 1860 census ffor Chittenden, Underhill, VT, he is shown with wife Evaline Atchinson Chase and daughter Evaline. (My ancestor is daughter b.1861, Amy Elvire Chase) They were living next door to Evaline's parents, Zebediah and Elvire Atchinson.
By 1870, Evaline was married to Solomon Mardin and living in WI. Amy was with her but don't know what happened to Evaline.
For some reason, I did a search for Henry Chase in the 1880 census for Underhill, Chittenden, VT and found a Henry Chase 45y (probably yours) b. Canada, living in Underhill, VT with wife Mercy or Nancy 38y b. Canada. children: Ira 12y, Robert 10y, Silas 8y, Lillian 6y and Henry 4y.
Are we talking about the same Henry Chase? He was b. Canada. In 1850 census he was shown as 14y, in 1860 census he was shown as 24y and in the 1880 census he is shown as 45y. I THINK this is the same Henry. Was there a divorce or something, or am I all wrong? I would like to clarify this somehow.
As far as Samuel's ancestors, I think we connect to the Aquilla Chase line, but first things first...IS THIS THE SAME HENRY Chase

Yes that is my ggg grandfather, married to Nancy. His children were; Ira, Robert, Silas(my gggrandfather), Lilly, Henry Jr. Samuel, and Lucy. I have the line finally traced back to the orignal two brothers how came over. It is still a bit fuzzy concerning Henry.

What do you mean that things are fuzzy on Henry? Is he the son of Samuel and Amy CHASE, shown in 1850 census in Bolton, Chittenden, VT?
I was sure that I had my Henry CHASE b. Canada, when I found him in the 1860 census for Underhill, Chittenden, VT. Then I found him in 1850 census for Bolton, Chittenden, VT, right age, right birthplace and mother's name Amy. That clinched it for me. My ancestor's name is Amy Elvire CHASE. That would be both the first name of paternal grandmother, Amy CHASE, and first name of maternal grandmother, Elvira ATCHINSON.
What do we have here? Did my Henry die? Was there a divorce? Do you know any way we could find out about a divorce from first wife between 1860 and 1870, Chittenden Co., VT?

By fuzzy I mean there are 2 or more Henry Chases in that general area. I have missed placed my chase documentation about the complete blood line. As far as I know there was no divorce. I will check around and try and find my papers.

There ARE a lot of Henry CHASEs out there. I am anxious to hear what you find in your research. I know that the Henry who was in the 1860 census, living next door to Zebediah ATCHINSON, was my man because of the name of his wife and daughter, the proximity to his in-laws (ATCHINSONs). I really feel that the Henry CHASE in Bolton, Chittenden, VT, in 1850, with Samuel and Amy, is my g-g-grandpa too. Do you think I have that wrong?
