I think we are researching the same family. I was at a dead end on my ancestors: James Patrick Carnahan Sr who married Mary Polly Lavender. Hi,
While researching my Carnachan /Kernaghan family tree I found that a John Carnaghan born Downpatrick, in Down Ireland Served in the (British) Royal Artillery and was discharged aged 40 years Sometime between 1796 & 1816.
My Robert Carnachan also fought against "Napolian" and was discharged in 1816

I'm trying to find out if they were brothers as he (Robert)had a son Andrew which was possibly his fathers name.
