Alabama/TX Canns

kslozow  (View posts) Posted: 31 Dec 2000 6:45PM GMT
Just starting research in my branch of the Canns. My great great grandmother was Hattie E. Cann. Born in Alabama in 1868 and died about 1940. Married John W. Douglas in 1883 and lived in Texas. Children Arlie, Ada Belle, Otho, Robert, Eula, Arana, Truman, Renee and Thee. Are we related?

I have a little information on my branch of the CANN family that settled in Ontario and St. Clair area of Michigan. Oral history has members of the CANN, CRIPPS (KRIBS), SOPER,McARTHUR, McCLINTOCK and JUSTIN famiies as being from a seagoing background. Would be happy to share. drjustin2@email.msn.com

Refer to msg #165 2/15/01. Uriel Cann married Mary Babcock in Stanton, England Mar 27,1851 and later moved to Ontario. Stanton may be in Devonshire, but I'm not sure. What say you?

Saw your posting about Cann. I am also researching the Cann name from Alabama. This is my brick wall. My gg grandmother was married to a Cann in AL. He apparently died? in the Civil War. She later married my gg grandfather. Maybe we are looking for the same family. Wish I knew.

I received this post by mistake. My Canns are white. I did not recognize any of the given names in your post.

Good luck in your search!
