I'm trying to find the family line of Navy Gunner Benjamin Bunker b: abt. 1796 in MA. He was married to Elizabeth C. LNU. Benjamin served in the Navy as a Gunner. I only know of one (possible) daughter named Elizabeth C. Bunker. I have them on the 1850 Charlestown, Middlesex Co., MA Census as follows:
2386 2448 Benj Bunker 56 M Gunner USN MA
Elizabeth C. " 46 F MA
Jos W. A. Berry 19 M Clerk MA
Thomas J. " 21 M Bookbinder MA
Elizabeth C. Bunker 10 F MA
Ellen Conders 20 F Ire
I haven't found them on the 1860, but I know he was still in the Navy until 1861 (when he was due to retire). The Navy asked him to remain in the service during the Civil War.
I have the Bunkers in Philadelphia, PA, stationed at Fort Mifflin before August 1863. Benjamin's wife, Elizabeth died in 1863 of gastritis (according to her death certificate). She was buried in the Union Cemetery in Philadelphia (according to her death notice in the Philadelphia Inquirer). Benjamin then retired from service and returned to MA where it is presumed he died and was buried there.
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I would be most grateful for any assistance.

We believe he was the son of Daniel Bunker and had a twin brother named Daniel too. Bunker Family Assn. does not have a lot on this family but if you contact me at betterichs@live.com I will share what we have. We believe that Benjamin died in Philadelphia in 1865.

Thank you for the response. I don't think Ben died in Philly. I have his wife's death certificate, but not his. Have just found out that Elizabeth's last name was Gray. They were married in 1839 in Charlestown. I will email you off list.
