I am a decendent of Norman Willis Briggs who had brothers, William, Delbert and Luther. The family resided in Endicott NY at time of WWI; but their father and mother, Willam & Maria (Brown) Briggs were both born in Vermont and later lived in Westchester Co. where my grandfather was born and also in Susquehanna County Pa. Am wondering if the name Luther is a common thread as I do not know where as yet in Vermont they hailed from.

My Caleb BRIGGS born 1803 in Whittingham, Vermont.
may be a brother to a Luther BRIGGS.
Somewhee in the genealogy there is a surname Luther
hence the first name. It may come from the RUGG family
line, as Caleb married Alzina RUGG somwhere near Fletche
in Franklin county

Thanks for the September info. Found my Luther Briggs. Luther also had four brothers. His dad was William (middle?) and some documents say his dad came from Vermont. William was born about 1850 and was a Cabinet Maker who lived a good portion of his life in Susquehanna County Pa. Also White Plains NY during a boom time. Circa 1910. All sons were carpenters also. Family christian names are: William Charles, Luther Simon, Herbert James, Delbert Lucious and Norman Willis
