Hi - I have been keeping an eye on the postings on this board for a while. Could you tell me if this is a board for US Briggs family researchers only?

My Briggs people are all in England (so far) - as am I - and I don't want to keep checking the postings if it is only US based (as interesting as they are!)

June

I think everyone is welcome. If it becomes too confusing you could request a new board just for England. It is a good reminder for all of us to be more detailed about where we are talking about as to county, state and Nation.

While my great grandmother was born in the US, her parents were born in England.

1. William BRIGGS, b. 26 May 1828 in South Clifton, Nottinghamshire, England, (son of William BRIGGS and Jane HAYES) baptized 6 Jul 1828, immigrated BET 1867 - 1870 to New York, lived near Somerset, Niagara county, New York, occupation Farmer, Homesteader, d. 4 Jan 1900 in Clay Center, Clay County, Nebraska, buried in Clay Center, Clay County, Nebraska. William and Maria entered America between 1867 to 1870 depending on the source.

William's obit: "William BRIGGS was born in South Clifton, Nottinghamshire, England, May 26, 1928. He was married to Mariah Whitlam May 18, 1854. They moved to New York, USA, 1867. Two of the sons crossed the mystic river before him. He belonged to the Church of England, but 13 years ago was received into the Christain Church at this place. He died Jan 4, 1900 about 7:30 p.m. He would have been 72 years old next May. His wife, the nine children and many others mourn the loss of a husband, father and friend."

Many thanks to all who have replied to my earlier posting, but none of the Briggs appear to link into mine, at least not yet. Good luck to you all in your research.
