Gerald S. Bresnahan
1936-2003
Gerald S. "Jerry"
Bresnahan, 67, of
Cheyenne died Aug. 11 at the VA Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 23, 1936, in
Ashville, N.C.
Mr. Bresnahan joined the Air Force in 1953. He spent most of the time in
Cheyenne,
coming here in 1954 and working on the Titan and Minuteman missile systems. AFter
retiring from the Air Force as a Master
Sergeant in 1974, he opened his own gun shop,
ELBE
ARMS Co. in
Cheyenne.
Mr. Bresnahan liked hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He worked with the Civil Air Patrol
and DeMolay. He taught pistol and rifle classes at
Laramie County Community
College.
He was a competitive shooter himself. He went to the national championships at Camp
Perry several times and also took his college class to Camp Perry.
He was a member of the
Wyoming Shooting
Sports Association, National
RifleAssociation, Masonic
Lodge #33, Shrine, VFW and Chairman of North American
Pronghorn Foundation for many years. He was a strong supporter of many shooting
programs, especially youth programs.
Mr. Bresnahan is survived by six children, Susan, Jerry, Mike, James, Shane and
Brandy; his mother, Mildred; a brother, Kenneth; six grandchildren; his companion,
LaVaughn Bresnahan; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth
Bresnahan in 1987.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky
Chapel of the
Chimes with
Chaplain Ron Shell officiating.
Cremation has taken place at
Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute to a charity of their choice.
