Hi, I am also a descendant of Melchior the Exile. However, my branch then continues to the brother of Melchior the Pioneer. This brother's name is, I believe, Adam (b. 1663 in Enkenbach, Bern, Switzerland and married to Katharina Weurtz (b. 1664 in Bern, Switzerland). I'm still trying to verify this.

As well, I am finding it hard to verify their son's name that continues on my branch. I've see 2 different names - Jacob and Nicolas (b. ca. 1690 in Bern). Continuing on, his son appears to be Nicolas (b. 1736 d. May 7th, 1789 in Waldeck, Germany). He married Barbara Kurtz (b. ? d. 1770).

His son, John Sr. (b. Mar. 30 1766 in Germany d. Oct. 21 1848 in Wilmot Township, Ontario), came to Pennsylvania and then later to Canada in 1823. His son's name was also John (Jr. - b. Jul. 15 1805 in Germany d. April 10 1877 in Wilmot Township). I am fortunate to have his bible.

His son John S. Brenneman (b. Jul. 9 1838 Wilmot Twsp. d. Mar. 25 1905 East Zorra Twsp.) is my great-great grandfather, while his son Aaron (b. Apr. 1 1877 d. Apr. 28 1950) is my great grandfather. My grandfather Lorne Brenneman (b. Jul. 14 1910 d. Feb. 22 1994) is my grandfather.

My mother is Joyce (Brenneman) Gascho (b. May 21 1938).

Anyway, I have found on www.familysearch.com that the father of Melchior the Exile was either Melchior or Niclaus (b. ca. 1600). His father is supposedly Peter Brannimann (b. ca. 1580). I would like to have this verified from another source though before I feel satisfied that this information is correct. Anybody out there able to confirm any of this?

Correction

Sorry. In my previous post I mentioned that I researched some of my information on www.familysearch.com. Although I find that to be a good website, it was actually www.gendex.com where I extracted a lot of Brenneman information.

I will try to find out more about Peter Branniman (b. ca 1580) and his son Melchior (or Niclaus?).

I just really started getting into this, but I have a link as well. My line runs from Melchior Jr to David (b. 1754), then to Magdalena (b. 1780) who married James Proctor (b. 1774). He is my great x5 grandfather.

If anyone would like to contact me, my email is kaileen_gibbs@yahoo.com.

Why did they call him Melchior the Exile?

I believe I am also from this line. I am also very new to this, so I have not verified too much yet. Based on previous research by another family member, Elizabeth Breneman is my great x4 grandmother.

My email is MeganWreath@aim.com.

Perhaps we could help you if we knew a bit more about your Elizabeth. Is this her married or maiden name? When was she born? Do you know her parents' or her husband's names? Birth and death dates and places? How about children?

Here is what I have from my aunt's research.

Elizabeth Breneman married Emanuel Grove in 1832.
They had three sons:
Morton Benjamin (1835-1836)
David (1837-1929)
Emanuel (1838-?)

My connection is through David. David's son Samuel had a daughter, Ruby Elizabeth. Ruby married Charles Ray Cross and had a daughter, Jeanne Ellen. Jeanne is my grandmother on my father's side.
