Jean Baptiste Boivin and Marie Louise Pare

Hi,
I'm looking for help in tracking down the parents of Jean Baptiste Boivin and Marie Louise Pare.
I've been able to trace back through Pierre Boivin who married Basilisse Vachon in July, 1850 in Ste. Marie, Quebec. The record of their marriage indicates that Pierre's parents were Marie Louise Pare and Jean Baptiste Boivin. Also, the burial record for Marie Louise Pare confirms she was the widow of Jean Baptiste Boivin.
There seems to be a whole lot of unsourced information out there that claims that the Jean Baptiste Boivin who fathered the Pierre that married Basilisse Vachon was in fact married to Marie Genevieve Pare. While there is a record of such a marriage it really does not add up when you match that with the marriage record of JB Boivin and ML Pare.
Does anyone have information that would indicate that Marie Louise and Marie Genevieve are one in the same. Seems unlikely. Any help is appreciated.
It maybe. In the 1851 canada east census they are living in LaMalbie. His wife is listed as Domitile Tremblay born in LaMalbie . Georges is listed as being born in Baie St. Paul.
Georges is a farmer. They have a large family I can't find the census but there were at least 8 children listed.
The next family on the page the wife is a Tremblay as well.
I have found that many times the given name is not what they go by.
This is his obit
Watertown Daily Times
Lowville. Dec. 23 1922
Joseph Wine (Boivin)
died Monday at his home on tbe
Moose River road, near Port Leyden.
He was born in Murray Bay, Canada,
Nov. 11, 1839. and after following
the life of a sailor for a number
of years he came to this country and
had made his home here for nearly
60 years.
On June 17, 1866 he married Miss
Mariah Depan of French Settlement,
who survives with two daughters.
Mrs. Josephine Trombley of French
Settlement and Mrs. Dolphlne Mc-
Hale of Moose River; 17 grandchildren
and three great-grand children.
Two brothers and two sisters live in
Montreal.
The book shows a Georges Boivin married to Louise Tremblay, 9 Jan 1821, Baie S. Paul (Charlevoix). If that's your grandfather then his parent are Antoine & Luce Gagnon. I can take you back several generations if this is the correct family.

The book shows only Alexandre as their son. He was married to Marie Carmela Pradet.

Yes, Boivin has been translated to Drinkwine. My mother is a Drinkwine. Her great grandfather was Edward Boivin and was born in St Gervais, Quebec on Jul 13, 1830. He immigrated to the United States, Bangor, Maine around 1850. No one could say or spell his name so the family changed the name to Drinkwine before 1860. Even Edward's wife's family changed their surname as well. His wife was Elizabeth Pooler (originally Poulin).

According to Vol. 2, Boivin, written by Fernand Boivin, an expert on Boivin genealogy, Joseph married Catherine Bourbon, daughter of Jn Baptiste Bourbon and Magdeleine Barbau on 13 October 1777, Loretteville, S. Ambroise. I have the 4 volume set of Fernand's books and would be glad to look up anything else for you.

thanks for the reply.
It would be nice if the Boivin name was on the tree from
Southampton.
I am enquiring as my great Uncle George Kitcher
went to Jersey and married Celina's sister, Mary Louisa.
I am also enquiring for Janet Thompson ( roseboivin@yahoo.co.uk ) who has the direct link.
Her Great Grandfather, Alexandre Boivin was Celina's Brother.
Janet does not have access to a computer ( home), she has to go the the library , so this is why I am checking out the
names etc.
Thankyou so much for your information- I need a few more pieces to fit into the jigsaw but I would not be surprised if we are related. My Aunt has a family tree started in the 1960's by the Southampton branch of the Glover family that she hasn't taken any further, so I am waiting for her to send this to me- if I see any Boivin's named I wil be in contact.

Our family names are Thomas, William and John, with popular middle names of either William or Alexander. It would be interesting to see of these names feature highly on your tree also..

Good luck!

Vanessa

Some more information regarding Celine Boivin

I was talking to Janet, and she told me that on the
Marriage Certificate it stated that Thomas was a mariner
and it gave his Father as Thomas Glover who was a
master mariner.
They were from the St. Mary's area of Southampton.
In the 1901 Census for Jersey, Celine said she was
a widow.
The children Lilian May and Mary Celina were born
1895, 1896 respectivley.

Lilian May lived with her grandparents ( Boivin)
in 1901 Census Jersey, and Mary Celina was with
her Mother.
This may help

angie
( BC Canada)
Janet lives in London England.

At St. Johns Cemetery in Harrison Twp., Wells County IN, there is an Amy Schaffter and it lists her mother and father as Henry and Marianne (Bovine) Shaffter. Also, buried there is Issac Heche and his wife Marianne (Schaffter) Heche. They came to the United States in July 1, 1844 and settled in Newville at that time. It was changed to Vera Cruz. Marianne Schaffter's father was Jacob Schaffter. All the Schaffters' and Heches' came from Moutier, Canton of Bern Switzerland. In fact, most of the people living in Vera Cruz were descendants of Moutier. My descendants, which started with Emanuel Heche (Brother to Issac) moved to Vera Cruz. Unfortunaley, I was not interested in the Schaffter line but I have someone who may be able to help you. Martha Karch

Cyril Boivin/Jospehine Dupuis of Houghton Co, Michigan

Cyril Boivin (b. Abt Mar 1857 - d. 1901) and Josephine Dupuis (b. Abt Jun 1866 - d. between 1954 and 1960), both originally of Canada, were in Houghton County Michigan by 1900. They had been married 15 years at that time, placing their marriage about 1885. Cyril Boivin immigrated to the US in 1876 and Josephine immigrated in 1885. It is unknown if they knew each other before Josephine immigrated but apparently they married shortly after her arrival in the US. They had 12 children: Josephine, Armosa (aka Armoza, Mosa), Eva, Mary, Petrolina (aka Lillian, Lili, Lilly), Anna, Louise, Alphonse Joseph, Arthur Joseph, Martha & Joseph C, as well as one daughter whose name is unknown at this time and who supposedly died young. Cyril died in 1901 as a result of a traffic accident. He was a teamster. I am looking for records for both Cyril Boivin and Josephine Dupuis that would help me determine the names of their parents. Any help would be appreciated.

Melanise Lussier was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Ferland and Josephine was the daughter of Louis and Emelie Charest, Emilie and Marie were cousins.
I have 3 books on the Boivin and I cannot find any Joseph married to Mary Manville DePan so I am guessing they are not from Canada??
