Charles Boivin who married Marie-Josephte Sasseville was the grandson of my ancestor, Pierre Boivin who married Marie-Amable Goguet (Goyette) His father, Charles Boivin, married Madeleine Joubert. This Charles, so far as I know, was one of 11 children. His sister, Marie-Amable Boivin, was the wife of (first) Joseph Normandin and then Alexis Courtemanche. Marie-Amable would have been Charles, Jr's. aunt and her Normandin and Courtemanche children would have been his first cousins. Alexis and Marie-Amable may have died in Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont, which is where my Courtemanche family was from before going to New Hampshire. As you may know, the Boivins descend from Pierre Boivin and Etiennette Fafard. They were married at Trois-Rivières, St-Maurice Co., when Etiennette was but 12 years old (true story.) By 1666 they were living with Pierre's uncle François Boivin at Ste-Anne-du-Petit-Cap on the Beaupré coast, later known as Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré. From there, my Boivin branch went to St-Joseph-de-Chambly, St-Luc, St-Jean County, St-Athanase d'Iberville, St-Marie-de-Monnoir and eventually, to Ste-Croix, Dunham before coming into the United States. My great, great grandfather was Marcel Courtemanche (known as Martin in the U.S.) He was born in Vermont (by some accounts, probably Cambridge, VT) and baptized when he was 1 year 8 days old at Ste-Croix, Dunham. He died in Lebanon, New Hampshire in 1913. Marcel was the son of Alexis Courtemanche and Marie-Amable Boivin and married Julie Laporte at Ste-Croix, Dunham, daughter of Julien Laporte and Mathilde Racicot. I descend in the Courtemanche line from Peter Coutermarsh (Pierre Courtemanche) who was born in Vermont and baptized at St-Croix, Dunham, resided with his family in the area of Hartford, VT and then, after marrying Mary Etta (Etta Mary) Brooks (Rousseau) lived the rest of his life in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Peter and Etta had 11 children. Nine were still living when Peter died in 1922 (May 19.) My grandmother, Edna Beatrice Courtemanche (Coutermarsh) was born 10-April-1906 and died 22-December-1987. She married 20-Jun-1927 to Sidney Raymond Monroe, son of Ernest Raymond Monroe and Eva Loney Ford (Forand.)

I am researching the family of Alexander Coutermarsh, Sr. born in 1826, son of Alexis and Marie-Amable Boivin. I believe that Alexander had several siblings. The siblings that I know of are Joseph (1834), Euzeb (1837), Amasa (1843) and Louis. Do you know of other siblings from this family. My mother is a great-granddaugher of Alexander and Rose Coutermarsh.
Any help you can provide would be very appreciated.

I don't know anything about the D'avignon line. I was answering someone's query about Boivin with an answer taken from the 4 volume set of Boivin genealogy books. Sorry I can't help.

Hello,
My ggrandfather was Joseph Boivin. He was born in LaMalbie Quebec Nov 11, 1839. His father was Georges Boivin. In the 1851 Canada East Census he is listed; any information you have on this family I would certainly appreciate

I believe that his mother was Domitile Tremblay

The book shows a Georges Boivin married to Louise Tremblay, 9 Jan 1821, Baie S. Paul (Charlevoix). If that's your grandfather then his parent are Antoine & Luce Gagnon. I can take you back several generations if this is the correct family.

The book shows only Alexandre as their son. He was married to Marie Carmela Pradet.

It maybe. In the 1851 canada east census they are living in LaMalbie. His wife is listed as Domitile Tremblay born in LaMalbie . Georges is listed as being born in Baie St. Paul.
Georges is a farmer. They have a large family I can't find the census but there were at least 8 children listed.
The next family on the page the wife is a Tremblay as well.
I have found that many times the given name is not what they go by.
This is his obit
