My mother was born in Winooski, Vermont - January 9, 1918. Her mother's maiden name was Caron - father Delorge. Her mother was French Canadian. She also thinks there is indian heritage in her background.

My mother was the youngest of either 5 or 6 siblings - Frank, Bill, Fred, Cora, Marjorie - my mother - 1918. When my mother was born her parents were both ill - her mother had breast cancer. Her mother's sister, Clara, moved away with my mother and brought her up from age 3 months. She never told my mother about her biological family until one day my mother came home from school to find her 'mother' (Aunt) sitting with a letter and crying. She then told my mother that her biological mother had just died.

My mother doesn't know the first name of either her mother or father. She met all but one of her siblings in the 1950's and 1960's. I think all but my mother are now deceased.

I know these posts are several years old and don't know if anyone is still looking at this, but I would love to find out anything about our background that might be available.

Thanks to all.
Judy Campbell
Treffle Beloin family

Trefflé (Samuel) Beloin, born 06 May 1869 at Coaticook, QC, son of Narcisse Beloin and Ernestine Dupuis. He was only 9 when his mother died. He died in Dixville on 29 Aug. 1945 at the age of 76.
In his early 20's (abt 1880'sa), he went to work in a saw mill in Beecher Falls, VT. The author of a book on the BELOIN family speculates that is where he met his bride-to-be. He married Eleonore Racicot, daughter of Joseph Racicot and Lucie Daignault around 1896, most likely in the Beecher Falls area. The marriage record has not been located. He eventually returned to Quebec - those records have been found. But his time spent in the US is undocumented at this point.
The first 5 of his children - Mamie Beloin(1897) Aime(1899), Wellie (1901), Samuel (1903) and Alexina (1906) were born in Stewartstown, NH. Samuel died 12 June 1920 at age 16, but not sure if he died in NH or back in QC.

MÉDÉRIC (Eméry ou Méry) BELOUIN / BLOUIN dit Laviolette - Emery's parents were Andre Belouin and Francoise Bounin.

André married sometimes between 1616 and 1656 to Françoise Bounin dit Touzelet (born between 1599 and 1622) The “Fichier Origine” project in Quebec states her name with certitude since they have a copy of the birth record for Mederic in their archives.

Both parents died before 1699, since Mederic's marriage contract identifies both parents as deceased.

Mederic, son of André Blouin and Françoise Bounin was baptized 26 April 1640 at église St. Pierre, Étusson, évèché de Luçon, Poitou France. The “Fichier Origine” project notes that 2 brothers were also baptized in the same place, Pierre on 03 Aug 1635 and Jehan (Old form of “Jean”)on 31 May 1638.

Sister Therese Gregoire

Scott
There are some interesting anecdotes in a book called "La Famille Beloin" which traces the descendants of Mederic. The book is out of print and in French but may be available through genealogical/historical libraries. By Andre Lafontaine, around 1991 or 1992, private printing in Sherbrooke. (I do have a copy)

I am descended from Mederic's son, Jacques
Mederic --> Jacques --> Augustin --> Joseph --> Pierre-Paul --> Jerome --> Etienne --> Eva
Jerome's brother Jean is responsible for a large group of descendants in the area of Quebec known as Estrie.... he had 17 children!! The book concentrates on Jean's family but gives good, well-researched info on the early generations.

Sister Therese Gregoire

My grandmother (Helen) was born in Hindsale NH, one of seven children(Lena, Irene, Edward, Henry, Marshall, Helen and Mabel). I remember visiting relatives in Brattleboro VT and Hinsdale NH as a child. I vaguely remember hearing my father speak of a cousin or uncle "Nap" (I later learned that was short for Napoleon) and know that some of the people we visited had the last name of Morin.

Several came to New England in the early 1900's. At least 5 of them remained in Canada.
Etienne was the son of Jerome Blouin and Marie Martine Sylvain.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I was so excited to see your site. Now, I do have a question...in regards to my Blouin side: My grandmother was Hattie Blouin b. 9 Nov 1872 in Canada to Magloire and Lenore Blouin. Basically, this is all I've learned in 9 years! So, when I saw your information on her father Magloire
I got very excited.....BUT, no Hattie.......and no Lenore. I suppose it would be possible that his wife that you have listed, died and he remarried. Your records also note that Magloire and Camille had a son Peter. None of my living relatives could ever remember Hattie talking about a brother Peter though. Hmmmmmm ... If I could just find a living relative of Peter's, perhaps the mystery could be solved.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm sure that all of the Blouins in Louisiana came from the same family. What was the name of your grandfather & his approximate date of birth? Do you know also the name of his parents? This would help me to perhaps tie them into the St. James Parish family.

Hi Lucie,
I'm afraid that I do not have anything beyond Ernestine Bénard but I do have information going seven generations back from François Blouin. Some of the information pertains simply to my "lines" but I have found much information on the first three generations that started it all in Quebec. There is much to much information to post here but if you'd like, please contact me at salt_james@hotmail.com and I can forward it to you. You mentioned that Francois and Ernestine were your G-Greatgrandparents. Is this on the Blouin side or the Bernard side? Hope to hear back.
James

Looking for ANY information about these 3 brothers, sons of Wilfrid Blouin and Anna Boutin. Wilfrid and Anna were married in Napierville, QC (Wilfrid was my grandmother's brother.)
Wilfrid owned/operated a grocery store (called "Le Marche Blouin") in Lowell, MA for several years from around 1910 to about 1925.
My uncle - Wilfrid's nephew - remembers only the names of his cousins, nothing else. The 3 were very likely born in Lowell.
(1) info on these 3
(2) date / place of death for Wilfrid and Anna
(3) were there any other children?

I do not have access to Ancestry.com or any of the other services.
so any help will be greatly appreciated

Sister Therese Gregoire
