I am presently looking for any information on the bergeron family. My great grandfather was born in or near Quebec . he was born in the 1870s give or take ten years to be safe. He ended up comming to the upper penninsula of michigan . HEand possibly some of his family lived in the Garden area,Nahma, fayette, and eventually Gladstone MI. He passed away in the late 1930s.I do not know any of his siblings names or even his parents names.his name was Arthur Joseph bergeron. But somewhere along the line the "r" was dropped and the name became bergeon. Also he had 4 sons tellis, arthur, george, and floyd and three daughters, lucille, lillian, and one other. He also was married to Agnes Farley from the garden area.they eventually divorced. If anyone has any info on this line i would really appreciate it . thanks cindy bergeon

Hi Cindy:

Have you checked the SSDI the Social Security Death Index for you Bergeon's at the State of MI there are quite a few there and all four sons are listed but you may have to check in WI also. Maybe these are the ones you are seeking if so with the last residence listed with some luck you will find their descendant's. I am not related I just like trying to help when and if I can. Take care.

I am researching a Geroge Bergeon, born in Canada and likely immigrated to Michigan. He married Olive Hathaway and they had a daughter named Mary Louise "Mayme". She is a great-great grandmother of my granson (via my son-in-law).

Have you learned anything more re this family?

Tell me more please. I have George Bergeron born 1857 and his son born 1878 in Canada. Family history says he drowned but I don't know what age or where. Could this be the same?

Taken from the 1900 census George Bergeon was born in December 1859 in WI. His parents were from Canada. His wife was Olive Hathaway and was from New York. Does this tie into yours? I do have more info on the children if this is the right one. I do not have the parents of George and have been trying to trace them but to date no luck. This George drowned at the age of 49 yrs 11 mos and 18 days per his death certificate. I have a daughter born in 1878 in WI. They did have some twins.

What I didn't mention in my previous reply is that George Bergeon's birth was listed as 1857 in the 1880 census. This could be the same one that you are inquiring about

I have George Grover Bergeron born Nov 1857 in Canada. Wife Margaret born 1878.
Their children George Dec 21, 1878 Canada, Jack G Apr 17, 1883 Canada and 3 more children in Mich and Wisc
This younger George was a sailor but I don't know if he drowned while on duty. Have a photo of the boat ECLAIR on the Great Lakes that we believe to be George Grover Bergeron's.
The George in 1878 was in the 1900 Census with the family but not in their 1905 Wisconsin census
Looks like it may not be the same George. :( What do you think?

Your George Bergeron appears to be a different George Bergeron. They may tie in somehow later on. Good luck and if I should find anything that looks like it may be your George I will send it to you.
