Lothar Bein  (View posts) Posted: 28 Nov 1999 11:59AM GMT
Hello.........!
My name is Lothar Bein. Since my 32nd I have lived in the Netherlands, where I got married.
Both my hobby and request to you is to help me with the search (genealogy) of the Bein
family.
Most of the Bein family originate from Germany and a smaller part come from Ostpreusen.
So far I have discovered that many ancestors of the Bein family come from the surroundings
of Aken and have partly moved to the Ruhr-area.
Besides there are many other Bein's originating from the Ruhr-area, but whose home was at
Eichsfeld (Hessich-Thueringischen border area).
Moreover many Bein's have migrated to countries such as the USA, Canada, all over
America, England, Australia and Israel.
I haven't been able to trace most of the Bein's yet, especially those living abroad and they are
many! I have have always thought that the name of Bein was a rare one, but I have
experienced otherwise.

One of the characteristics of the Bein's is, however, to complete what they have started.
Whether I will succeed I don't know for there are many Bein's that I have been unable to
reach so far. From a historical point of view I am also interested in the religious origin of the
Bein family. It would be nice if you could inform me on that.

Please help me and send me an E-mail. Should you like to know what I have achieved so far
I'll be pleased to oblige.

From the Netherlands with Love,

Lothar Bein

I don't know this information is what you are
looking for but, my grandfather was Abraham Bein.
He came from Austria in the '20's and moved
to New York.
He married Jenny Beckenivitski (shortened to Becker
when she arrived in the US).
Their children were William and Elaine.

Beins in Colorado

Laura Bein Emerson  (View posts) Posted: 11 Oct 2000 5:51PM GMT
Lothar, I think we all thought the Bein name was rare until we started tracking them down. My great-grandfather, Frederic August Bein (1861-1933) came to Colorado from Garmany by way of the Davenport, Iowa area, and had 12 children, so there are a quite a few of us in this area. In 1980 we went to Beaman, Iowa for a family reunion, and it was fun meeting all those people with the Bein name. Several of them had made the trek to the house in Germany (Holstein area?) from whence Gus Bein came. The people who live there must be surprised.

We have some really old Bein pictures from Iowa at my dad's house, so when I get those, I'll see if there might be something you'd like to see, and send a scan to you.

So, if you had a little map of the world, and were to put a pin where there are some Beins that you know, put a pin at Denver, Colorado.

PS. If you are near Amsterdam, see if you can find Charles or John Hurd (I forget which one it is, but think it's Charles). He's your cousin! Gus Bein is his great-grandfather, and he was born here in Colorado, but works/worked for IBM in the Netherlands.

Lois, I got your message. See if you can go to: http://communities.msn.com/GaryandLauraEmerson and click on the Photo Album -- I've posted a photo of James Ross Akins (father of Martha Bennett Akins Bein) there, in case you don't have that one. My dad has several photos of Art Bein (good looking guy). I can get them sometime and scan them if you are interested. Do you live in the Loveland area? We could get together sometime maybe.
