Hello. I happened upon the following 1899
Hartford Courant newspaper notice, it was an inquiry (sent from
Illinois to
Connecticut) concerning the
BEEMAN genealogy. I saw that the newspaper item had some detailed family information and I thought that I would post it here just in case someone might find it useful.
" Letters From the People
Relatives Wanted - Beeman,
Griffith,
Stephens.
To the Editor of The Courant:
Will some person that is related to either of the following persons, William, Vincent, James or
Orman BEEMAN, Daniel or
Ezra Griffith, Daniel
Stephens or his wife , Mary
Tomlinson, and knows the family history of any or all of them please address the undersigned.
William
BEEMAN was the second son of John
BEEMAN, who was married to Sarah
Thompson November 5, 1746, of Kent, Conn.; but left
Connecticut and went either to
Massachusetts or
Vermont and very probably died there. Vincent, James and
Orman BEEMAN were the sons of William, and there were three other sons and one daughter, viz., Rullus, Russell, John and Mary. The family of William left
Connecticut and came West. Vincent, James and Mary went to
Michigan, and
Orman and John came to
Illinois, where they died many years ago. William's wife's name, I think, was Sarah
Campbell. He was a soldier in the War of the Revolution, and a pensioner at his death. He had two brothers and three sisters, viz., Matthias, Andrew, Rachel, Lucy and Thankful.
Anyone that can give any information concerning the family will confer a lasting favor.
Daniel and
Ezra Griffith were cousins of
Orman BEEMAN, as also was Daniel and Mary
Stephens. Daniel
Stephens was daguerreotypist and his wife was a teacher.
