I have learned that there was more than one Ezkiel Beam from SC which confuses the issue. The one not related was apparently from Fairfield. Did your Ezkiel marry Rosanna and did he move to Ala? The Ezkiel that was my GGgrandfather died in Ala

Ezekiel Beam, who died in Marshall County, Alabama, married to Letty Compton is my gggrandfather. There is a correction though and that is that he was never married to Matilda Samford. That Ezekiel was from the John Teeter Beam line out of North Carolina and he married Matilda in Birmingham, Al. My Ezekiel is the son of John Beam, son of Albert Beam, son of Jurrian Beam, son of Johann Henrich Beam (Bohm) who came to America in 1709 as part of the palatine migration. BTW, how did you come up with the middle name of Turner? The reason I ask is that one of his brothers was named Turner Beam, born abt 1804, Fairfield County, SC and he named one of his son's Henry Turner Beam. If you are connected with this line, I would love to share information with you.

Ray, I do have the right Ezekiel but my niece is the one that put most of this line together. (Husbands) She has Letty Compton as first wife and Matilda Samford as second wife. ? Also she has Turner as his middle name. I mayself have not documented it just taking up where she left off. I do not know who this John Teeter Beam is at all. Diffently not in our line. We are the same line as you are. You may email if you wish. I would like to share and straighten things out. Email me at "thebeams2@juno.com"

My GGGrandfather was John Belton Beams/Beam. He fought in the Civil War with Company G, 38th Tenn. Inf. Regiment and was a member of the Tuscaloosa Plowboys. He was wounded at Missionary Ridge and lost use of arm and leg. I have been told that his father was Ezekial Beam and that they moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama from Sand Mountain area. I have census records that list his birth place as South Carolina. His wife was Bashie McCracken. Sisters were Dorcas Alvira, Nancy Elizabeth, Martha, Sarah Jane Brother was Tom or Thomas. John Belton Beam was born about 1818-1832 and died 1924. Buried at Moore's Bridge Cemetary. I cannot find anything that directly links him with Ezekial. Any help would be appreciated. I have been unable to get any info on who his parents were.

My GGG Grandfathers civil war records list his name as John Belton Beam and I feel sure that a census taker added the s and it stuck or something like that. He could not read or write.

John Belton Beam had two sons Thomas or Tom and John Tobias. Wife Basha and daughters Martha, Nancy, Sarah and Dorcas. The 1870 census listed this in Northport, Alabama Pct.3 Tuscaloosa, Al #102 Beams John 30, Farmer, born Alabama. Family stories have him born in South Carolina and one account born on the way over from Ireland. There are a lot of similarities to the Albert Beam family of Fairfield, South Carolina. I hope you can help.

Thanks,
Jim Beams/Beam
