I'm looking for anyone with ties to the Axfords from Oxford NJ. The family moved to Ontairo Canada, Washington, California, Michigan, Ohio, South Dakota and other areas. A few of the many married names are Blythe, Van Horne, Murdock, Bowlby, Howey, Eldridge, Beach, Hunt, Hall, Hoy, Holtz and there are many more. After the passing of my grandmother I've taken over the family tree. Thanks for any help.

if you ever find a link to England, UK. I have a website where you might find some ancestors - mainly London and Wiltshire based, but have relatives in Australia too.

Hi Rich, I am a descendant of John Axford and Joanna Beakes, original settlers of Oxford, NJ. I am descended through John II and Abigail Hunt, their son Jonathan m. to Lana Pace. This was one of the branches that emmigrated to Ontario. I would be happy to fill in whatever blanks I could for you.

My interest these days is to find out more on the background of the original John.

My paternal grandmother was "Hazel Victoria Axford." She married Samuel Dee Smith, Jr. and they last lived in Detroit, Michigan. I do know my grandmother was from Wisconsin before moving to Detroit. I don't know much about before that time. She also had a sister named Mae Axford

Your welcome, Rich! I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan now, and next time I go to the Detroit area, I will record all the names from the tombstones in our family plot and let you know what they are.

John's sister was Ann m Jeremiah Roloson and they also brought up their family in Oxford. Lefler is also associated with Pace. Some Leflers went to Ontario, but mine was a Rev War soldier and went to Stroud,Pa thence to the Finger Lakes and down into Tioga CO,Pa. I have information on the Axfords as well, specifically Daniel Axford, son of Samuel Axford and his wife, Margaret MacDonald. Daniel (1794-1881) and his wife Margaret (Morgan) had three daughters - Rachel, Margaret and Nancy. Nancy Axford (1835-1921) married Isaac Dill and they built the house I live in in Hackettstown, NJ. I'd be happy share what I have on the "younger" Axford generations.
