My family tree has the following surnames on it: Axford, Speakman, Freedman, Curnon, Westcott, Wilson, Wheatley, Pears, Surtees, Ennis, Bright, Otley, Batty, Kirtley, Dixon, Wilkes, Partridge, Walker, Myers, McLaughlin, Daley, Bright, Armstrong, Lister, Shurmer, Stephenson, Scott, Thomson, Curran, Raymond, Jackson (and I'm sure a few others).
Most came from Northumberland, I think some maybe from Devon. I'd love to hear from anyone that has Axford family in the Northumberland area. Thanks

Hi Maggie,

It is my husband's line that I'm researching... they are all from Northumberland - most born in County Durham. You can e-mail me direct at cameracrazy101@hotmail.com. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Maggie, I've just gone through our family tree, and I have an Arthur Bright - it sounds as if we are connected. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Please e-mail me at cameracrazy101@hotmail.com

Hi Maggie, we have not been in touch for awhile, but I've been going through our family tree. Hilda Axford married Nicholas Bright.

Hilda Axford's parents were William Axford and Mary Ann Elizabeth Freeman. Hilda was born in 1904, and she is the sister to John Alexander (our direct line). For the most part, this Axford family begins in Plymouth but end up in County Durham. A number of marriages took place in Ryton. cannot find any other connections beyond that, but the earliest Axford I have on our family tree is William Axford, born 1816.

Do you have any more information? Are you still in the Northern part of England? Do you know when our Axford family moved to Northumberland, or know the names of any mines they worked at? I would be happy to send you a copy of what I have.
