We are trying to locate the arviso side of the family. The only one we have is a marianna arviso married to a Donaciano Salazar who were in or around the Aqua Prieta area around 1907. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have a record of marriage for Candalaria Arviso, residence listed as Nogales, marrying Marion Turner 14-June-1886 in Pima Cnty, AZ. I am researching the Turner, Ramirez, Romero, Lamadrid and Arviso families in Arizona

Arviso, Arvizu and Arvizo surname

I am researching the Arvizu (spelled three different ways by members of my extended family)line that started in Arizona by way of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico with a Francisco Martin (?) around 1850. I know that Martin Arvizu was married to Maria del Carmen Sanchez and living in the Gila Valley about 1880's. My grandfather, Francisco Arvizu had brothers with names of Marcelino, Alcantar, Gregorio and Martin, and sisters Rita, Trinidad, Carmen, and Benedita. Birth dates were all between about 1865 - 1880. If your research ties into any of these names I would be interested.

Thank you.

To Joe Merieno, my mom was born in Sonora, Mexico, and her name was Josefa Arviso, as a child she would talk of her sister's, my mom was born in 1899. My grandma's name was Dolores, and she is buried in Arizona, I don't know very much about my mom's side of the family, because they abandoned her as far as I am concerned, only when the needed money did they make contact with her. I never met any of my aunt's and I don't know if she had brother's or not. I know that their are relative's some where in Merced, Calif., but I have never met any of them. Mom use to talk are Hermosillo alot when I was younger, but she never said awhole lot. I do know that they lived in Arizona, where I think in Glendale, because that is where my mom met my dad. I hope that this may be of some help to you.

hello, my family also comes from Sonora. The farthest I can go back is to my grandfather, Lucas Arvizu. He was born around 1858 and died in 1922. I think he had 11 sons from his first marrage and two sons and a daughter from his second. Either he or his father was a twin. thank you. hope this can help either you or me

Arvizu's in Sonora

Mark:

Thank you for your reply. As I continue my searches I will be on the lookout for a Lucas Arvizu. There are many Arvizu's in Hermosillo, Sonora, where my family comes from. I suspect that several Arvizu family's came from Spain and settled there in the late 1700's or early 1800's. You may be a distant relative and I will look to see what I have that I haven't looked at closely. I have many Church records or Arvizu's from Hermosillo going back into the late 1700's. Since there was no Lucas Arvizu in my direct line, as fat as I know, I have not looked for this name, but I will do so and send you any information.

Sincerely,

Joe Merino

thank you

thank you Joe.The only record I have is a photograph from Hermosillo in 1911. It is a picture of a Mason's meeting with several distinguished looking gentlemen. It is very interesting.
