As per the Sacramental
Records of the Archdiocese of Louisana, Louis was a native of
Paris, France. He Married Maria Juanna
LaPierre on August 22, 1732 in New
Orleans. This was during the
Spanish regime, and anyone who wanted a job quickly change from Louis to Luis. Maria Rosalie
Andry was born in New
Orleans on November 8, 1757. She was married twice. The first time to Don Jose Villabasco on January 25, 1777 in New
Orleans. Her second marriage was to Martin Paloa of
Barcelona on August 20, 1801. The
Andry family according to the Cabildo recordss were"One of the first to settle in St. Bernard
Parish. The Villabasco widow's husband, Don Jose deVillabasco, had been in charge of the administration of the postage service and the administration of revenues. Two children were born to Don Jose and his wife. The first was
Nicolas Jose who became the vice consul from Spain in New
Orleans. The other child born of this union,
Celeste, received the best education of the time at the Ursuline Convent. Jose died in 1788 at the age of forty-eight. After the death of her husband the Villabosco widow continued her social life. She entertained the elite of the City, including Madame Pontalba with whom she was on intimate terms. After her many years of being a widow, she decided to marry in 1801. Her new husband, Martin Paloa, was also a
Spaniard. Her dowry consisted of her house on
Royal Street and several slaves. She outlived her second husband and died at a very old age on June 21, 1834". This information comes from The
